Only one of his three runs in novice/maiden company was particularly promising, and that came with some give in the ground, so he's difficult to fancy off this mark on handicap debut.

Ran well on handicap debut last time to finish second at Yarmouth. Up just 1lb and in good hands, every chance first-time blinkers will help as well.

Won on handicap debut at Windsor last time out, but up 6lb and that was on heavy ground (the opposite to what it's likely to be here), so he has a couple of questions to answer.

Winner at Nottingham last time out and carries a 6lb penalty for that narrow victory. Still hasn't had that much racing in handicaps, though, so can't be ruled out with improvement possible.

Only narrowly beaten at Windsor last time, easily the best of his three runs in handicap company. Edging up the weights but has a positive jockey booking here.

Third at Kempton last time out when stepping up to this trip for the first time and has switched yards since. Just 1lb higher and could go well if ready to go for new trainer.

4lb above his previous winning handicap mark, but has something to prove now despite taking a slight step in the right direction at Goodwood last time out.

Beaten just a neck on handicap debut at Kempton last time out. Up 2lb, which is fine as the same jockey can claim 3lb here, and the return to turf shouldn't be an issue.

Better has been seen from him since switching to handicap company for his two most recent runs, though the step back up in trip here is a slight question mark.

My Boy Sepoy12
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-1| J: Fran Berry| T: S C Williams| OR:  69| D

Just behind Whitehall at Nottingham last time out but weighted to reverse that form off the same mark, and has previous run well on quick ground. Strongly considered for a good draw.

Age: 3|  Weight: 8-13| J: Josephine Gordon| T: W Jarvis| OR:  67

Has run well over 7f the last twice since switching back to turf, and with this step up in trip set to suit he can't be ruled out from hitting the frame in first-time cheek pieces.

Viceroy Mac20

Eight race maiden and no closer to getting off the mark when fifth at Doncaster last time out over this trip; better ground here unlikely to make the difference.

Forecasts

My Boy Sepoy (7/2), Whitehall (4/1), Elhafei (4/1), Icart Point (7/1), Mankind (7/1), Arigato (10/1), Taurean Dancer (16/1), Stormer (16/1), Viceroy Mac (20/1), Narodowa (25/1), Surfa Rosa (33/1), Sheriff (40/1)

Verdict

It could be worth siding with MY BOY SEPOY here. He was just behind Whitehall at Nottingham last time out but looks set to reverse that form off the same mark, is generally in good form and will handle conditions here fine. He should be able to get the better of that reopposing rival, as well as John Gosden's Elhafei, who ran well on handicap debut last time.
  1. My Boy Sepoy
  2. Elhafei
  3. Whitehall
