Landed a gamble here two starts back of 4lbs lower in March. Never at the races last time at Kempton when finishing last. Well drawn to attack in stall 1 and no great surprise were he to bounce back to form here.

Won over C&D back on New Years Eve off a 4lb higher mark. Has been a tail of woe since and has dropped quickly in the weights as a result. Return to this surface will help and market move would be interesting.

Down the field at Brighton (7f, good to firm) last month. Should appreciate a return to this C&D but is not the most resolute in a finish and is vulnerable as a result

Benefitted from the drop into selling company when unlucky not to win at Leicester (6f, good) two weeks ago. This obviously requires a bit more but that was a step in the right direction and will be a player here if able to build on that.

Dangerously well handicapped animal that has been well backed and sent off favourite on his last two starts but has been beaten on both occasions. Clearly capable at this level although wide draw makes life tougher. Dangerous if money comes again.

Beaten a long way in all three starts so far in 2018. Quickly dropped another 3lbs and it is hard to make a solid case for him until we see much more on the track.

Failed to beat a rival home on handicap debut at Wolverhampton (6f, AW) two weeks ago. Quickly dropped 5lbs in the weights as a result but needs to show much more before coming of interest at this level.

In good form earlier this year wining over 6f at Wolverhampton in February and placing over this trip. Last two runs on turf have been poor however and needs a return to synthetics to spark him back to life here. Still 3lbs higher than last win.

Seems to be at her best on artificial surfaces and made no mistake at Wolverhampton (6f, AW) when running out a ready winner last time. That was just her third run in a handicap so has plenty of scope for improvement off this 6lb higher mark.

Definite signs of improvement since switching to this yard. Ran well to be second of 12 at Wolverhampton (7f, AW) three weeks ago. Only 1lb higher her so a player again although best form is over a bit further.

Old boy who has had plenty of success but his form has tailed off somewhat. Likely to blast off from a wide draw here and try and make all. That will make him vulnerable late on to closers.

Has put in three similar efforts of late in All Weather handicaps but has not yet been able to make any progress. A 2lb drop might help him on that front but others make more immediate appeal.

Forecasts

Red Invader (7/2), Peggie Sue (7/2), N Over J (5/1), Falcao (7/1), Princess Way (8/1), Majorette (10/1), Gold Club (10/1), Expediate (14/1), Brockey Rise (16/1), Haraz (20/1), Bertie Blu Boy (25/1), Legal Mind (50/1)

Verdict

Not the strongest of contests and several of these are either badly out of form or on the decline. Money for Gold Club would probably be significant and should be duly noted as he is on a good mark once more. Majorette improved her form when dropped into selling company last time and would be a player here if she can translate that back into a handicap. Clear preference though is for PEGGIE SUE who won with some authority last time, is lightly raced and can improve again to win off this 6lb higher mark.
  1. Peggie Sue
  2. Majorette
  3. Gold Club
