Pulled up in a point-to-point and well beaten in a bumper. Makes his debut on the Flat and faces a massive task conceding weight all round.

9/4
Dawn Approach colt out of a Rainbow Quest mare, he cost 65,000 gns as a yearling and is a half-brother to several winners. Plenty of promise when third of 15 on debut at The Curragh and looks a leading player in this.

Horse silk
12/1
Gelded son of Lawman out of a Pivotal mare, he is a brother to winning stayer Laws Of Spin. Makes his debut for top jumps yard and is worth noting for any market support.

Horse silk
4/1
Leroidesanimaux gelding who is a half-brother to three winners. Not much went right for him on debut at The Curragh when Dawn Trouper was third, but he showed plenty of ability and can make his presence felt given better luck in running.

Horse silk
6/4
Galileo colt who is a brother to the very smart Bondi Beach. Stayed on well to be fourth of 12 over 1m4f at Leopardstown on debut and should be sharper this time. Drop in trip a slight worry, though.

Horse silk
100/1
Daughter of Ask who has a jumping pedigree. Likely to find several of these too speedy and can only be watched on debut.
7
(9)
Horse silk
50/1
Sent off at big prices when well held on both her starts. Makes little appeal in this, but may do better when handicapping.
8

Horse silk
8/1
Cape Cross filly who is a half-sister to three winners over middle-distances. Makes plenty of appeal on paper and is an interesting newcomer for a leading yard which won this race last year.
9

Horse silk
20/1
Fastnet Rock filly who is a sister to 1m winner Athasel Abbey. Stable can get one ready to win first time so she is worth a check in the betting on debut.

Forecasts

Victory Salute (6/4), Dawn Trouper (9/4), Persian Lion (4/1), Maysiyana (8/1), Legal Spin (12/1), Vintage Teardrop (20/1), Belle Free (50/1), Aprils Joy (100/1), Mai Fleuri (100/1)

Verdict

Legal Spin, Maysiyana and Vintage Teardrop are newcomers worth checking for market support and Victory Salute is of obvious interest given his connections and breeding. However, the two to focus on may be DAWN TROUPER and Persian Lion, who finished third and fifth on their debuts at The Curragh. The latter met trouble in running that day and it could be close between the pair this time.
  1. Dawn Trouper
  2. Persian Lion
  3. Victory Salute
