Made hardly any impact in two bumpers and makes very limited appeal for a punt now he switches codes.

Found himself detached from the field after a slow start on debut at Newmarket last month but responded to riding to pass beaten horses near the finish. Hard to assess on that form but probably safe to just take notes for now.

By the useful stallion Iffraaj and out of a dam who was a 1m winner on the Fibresand, the colt appeals on paper as one to watch. Support in the betting could be significant for this debutante.

Debut run sets a good standard and the son of Invincible Spirit could well have plenty more to offer after that highly encouraging start to his racing career. Good chance if taking another step forward.

Cost just £7,500 but has winners in his pedigree. Yard going well just now but the betting market will be the best guide towards his chances.

Plenty to find with Armed after their encounter at Windsor last month and difficult to see where the improvement will come from at this stage.

Didn't beat many home on debut at Nottingham and ran as if in need of the experience. Does have winners in his pedigree but may simply need more time.
Half-brother to a couple of 1m winners and is out of a dam who won over 1m 2f. Obviously highly respected yard and must come into the reckoning if the market vibes are positive.
Modest effort on debut better by far at Newbury last month - posted a most encouraging performance to finish fourth. Drops in trip today and is reunited with Ryan Moore, so good reasons to expect a bold show. One to consider.

Cost €58,000 but was badly in need of the run on debut. Sure to be wiser for the outing the gelding is likely to come into his own with more experience and possibly a longer trip.

Impressive pedigree - by the might Sea The Stars - and cost a whopping 230,000 gns. Yard going well and very capable of having this fellow primed. One to seriously consider despite his lack of experience.
Failed to build on a promising debut run when no better than mid-division at Windsor last month, but is still unexposed at the trip and very feasible the filly can find a bit more. Place claims if able to recapture her debut form.

Forecasts

Shareef Star (11/4), Armed (3/1), Piece Of History (4/1), With A Start (11/2), Advanced Virgo (15/2), Croque Monsieur (10/1), Margie's Choice (28/1), White Turf (40/1), Ajddarr (40/1), Bunker Hill Lad (80/1), Doctor Wonderful (100/1), Trentman (250/1)

Verdict

A number of interesting debutantes worth noting for future reference - not least WITH A START, an expensive purchase by Sea The Stars, who makes plenty of appeal for a top yard. Shareef Star posted a much improved display last time out and has to be of interest before he qualifies for a handicap mark. Armed also has a solid profile and will be hard to keep out of the frame, while Piece Of History and Ajdaar are others worth placing on the shortlist.
  1. With A Start
