Supported to build on the promise he had shown on his penultimate run but finished last of 10 on the Tapeta last time out. Now back up in trip back on turf but does need to overcome a long losing run.
Made his handicap/turf debut last time out and showed very little for a stable that is struggling to get going this year. Hood now added to see if some improvement can be found but a watching brief advised.
Can be very slow away and look an awkward ride but does have ability as he showed when winning on the Fibresand for his previous yard. Took a small field handicap when racing in Guernsey last time and remains on a workable mark.
Back on the Flat without his usual hood he was last seen scoring twice over hurdles last autumn. Still a maiden on the Flat but an interesting contender given his hurdles success and looks reasonably treated in the handicap.
Ran very poorly last time out despite being well backed over 1m4f here on the AW when tried in a visor. That headgear is now swapped to cheekpieces as he returns to turf but he remains a maiden and others are more solid.
Hardly seen to best effect last time out on the AW here over 1m2f when never in the right position and forced wide for much of the trip. A return to this trip will suit better (could need even further) but others present a more solid case.
0/22 on the Flat and that is hardly a compelling profile even in this company. Ran far too freely in first-time blinkers on the AW and that aid is quickly removed as he tries to break his maiden off a career-low mark.
Only modest and remains a lightly-raced maiden having shown his first form last time out at Brighton over 1m2f. His previous handicap try was very disappointing and he would need more to feature in this.
Failed to see out the 2m trip on the AW last time although he did shape as though he had a little to offer. Back down to a more sensible trip now with headgear back on there are less attractive options in this.
Hardly helped her chance by totally blowing the start at Brighton last time out when running over 1m. Her previous form is poor though and on the evidence so far she's passed over here.
Forecasts
Ochos Rios (7/2), Jackblack (4/1), Bergholt (5/1), Beast (6/1), New Street (7/1), Insomniac (8/1), Mount Cleshar (10/1), Too Many Shots (16/1), Hi There Silver (20/1), Kwikstep (50/1)
Only a modest event and there aren’t many what you would call solid options. Ochos Rios is far from an easy ride (often slow away) but he does have some ability and his mark remains one that he should be able to win off. The hood is left off JACKBLACK and that’s a slight worry but he was in good form over hurdles when last seen and off a modest mark here he’s taken to transfer his good hurdles form to the Flat. Of the others Hi There Silver will be better suited by this trip and isn’t out of this while Insomniac may find some improvement in a first-time hood.
- Jackblack
- Ochos Rios
- Hi There Silver
