First effort at this sort of trip was inconclusive at Newmarket (2m½f, AW) back in November when held up and never really getting involved. Only 1lb higher than last winning mark and every chance of further progression at staying trips this year.

An eight race Flat maiden for Ralph Beckett, she was sold for £21,000 in September. Three runs over hurdles over the winter were only fair and she returns to this sphere with some questions to answer. First try at 2m on the flat and hood goes on.

All three career wins have come on the All Weather. 0/7 on turf and was beaten a very long way at Ripon (2m, good) 11 days ago when wearing the blinkers for the first time. They are retained here but hard to fancy at present.

Recorded his eighth career success at Southwell (1m3f, AW) last time. Tends to save his best efforts for the Fibresand surface these days although does act on turf. Goes up significantly in trip today.

Sent off favourite at Musselburgh (1m 4½f, good) three weeks ago and again got outpaced as the race quickened. Has long shaped like this stamina test will really suit and he is a key player off a very workable mark.

Been in good form of late and transferred that good form on to the turf at Goodwood (1m6f, good to soft) latest when staying on well behind a runaway winner. Step back up in trip is a positive on that evidence and likely to go well again.

Most of his winning has come over shorter so the trip is a slight worry for this front runner who likes to get on with things. Mark is slipping but possibly will be vulnerable in closing stages once more.

Likeable veteran who came on for his reappearance run when third here over 1m6f (good to firm) 10 days ago. Step back up in trip is a positive and won this race back in 2014 off a 2lb higher mark. Dangerous to dismiss.

Forecasts

Northwest Frontier (2/1), Airton (3/1), Navajo Star (3/1), Hallstatt (10/1), Really Super (12/1), Brigadoon (14/1), Mambo Dancer (16/1), Serenity Now (20/1)

Verdict

Hallstatt likes it round here and won this race back in 2014. His run here 10 days ago suggested his turn may be close once again. Navajo Star is consistent as they come and should once again run his race. NORTHWEST FRONTIER has shaped on several occasions that a step up to this sort of trip would see him in a better light and he is taken to notch a second career win.
  1. Northwest Frontier
  2. Hallstatt
  3. Navajo Star
