Will find this a very different test as he switches from Fibresand to turf having won on his debut on that surface having looked experienced for his first run. Didn't really go on from that as he was a beaten favourite there last time; penalised.
£35,000 purchase at the breeze-ups for a yard that you don't usually associate with juveniles. He looked to have some ability on his debut at Doncaster (5f, good) but didn't quite see the race out; one who needs time.
From a yard that do well with juveniles he was favourite on his debut and showed plenty of promise for the future on deep ground at Pontefract. Despite only finishing 4th he gave the winner a good race and looks the sort to build on that run.
Yard yet to get off the mark with their juveniles with this Showcasing colt making his debut (cost 60,000 guineas as a yearling). Half-brother to three winners including the useful Battered (juvenile 6f winner); dam won at 5f as a two-year-old.
Stable off to a good start with their juveniles with this Siyouni colt costing 50,000 guineas as a yearling. First foal of a twice-raced dam who is a half-sister to the useful 1m2f winner Stay The Night. Worth noting in the market.
Stable off the mark with two-year-old earlier in the week but this one didn't really offer that much on her debut at Thirsk (5f, soft) beating only one home. Given her pedigree she looks one for the longer term.
Very easy to back 33/1 shot on her debut on the AW (Tapeta) and ultimately finished well held after starting slowly. Hard to recommend here even with that initial experience tucked away.
From a very capable stable and their first two-year-old winner of the season. By Compton Place there are some winning relations in her pedigree but on balance others are preferred here on her debut.
Forecasts
Yousini (9/4), Port of Leith (9/4), Mr Buttons (4/1), Life of Riley (9/2), Mark's Choice (14/1), Northern Society (25/1), Juals Spirit (33/1), Miss Maben (33/1)
Most of the North’s top two-year-old trainers are represented here with the Mark Johnston representative PORT OF LEITH making most appeal after his taking debut at Pontefract. Mr Buttons failed to cope with his penalty last time out and now switches to turf from Fibresand while the debutantes from the Karl Burke and Kevin Ryan yards Life Of Riley and Yousini are worth watching in the market.
