€31,000 yearling. Third foal of an unraced half-sister to US 5½f-1m dirt winner Jade Necklace and AW winners Strike The Green (6f) and Waldorf (1m½f), out of 5f winner. Nice enough pedigree and one to note in the market.

30,000gns yearling. Fifth foal. Half-brother to 6f-7f winner Notalot (inc. at two/Qatar) and 5f/7f two-year-old winner Danot, out of unraced full-sister to 6f Group 2 winner Prime Defender. Stable's juveniles in cracking form so could go very well.

30,000gns yearling. Third foal. Half-brother to French 1m juvenile winner Castlewarden, out of an unraced half-sister to 1m6f Listed winner Twitch. arket check advised but pedigree suggests he will be better over further.

€28,000 yearling. First foal. Dam French 1m3f winner, out of 5f two-year-old Listed winner, closely related to 1m Group 3 winner Marine Bleue. Appears to be second string on jockey bookings.

19,000gns foal, 25,000gns yearling. Third foal, dam unplaced 1m2f-1m4f maidens, full-sister to 6f/7f Group 2 two-year-old winner Strategic Prince. Couldn't rule him out on pedigree, though stable yet to get fully firing this season.

10-1 and easy enough to back ahead of his Ripon (5f, good to soft) debut last month, when beaten 10½L. Extra furlong plus that experience should not be lost on him and improvement is anticipated.

€12,000 yearling, £20,000 two-year-old. Fourth foal, full-brother to three maidens, out of a German 1m1f winning half-sister to Italian 1m2f Group 1 winner Querari. Others make more appeal over this trip on grounds of pedigree.

21,000gns yearling, Thirteenth foal. Half-brother to four winners, including two as juveniles over 7f-1m. Dam won over 1m3½f. Pedigree suggests he will want further, but stable's juveniles in great shape early in the season so could go well.

Horse silk
5/4
9-2 on debut when he ran well to be beaten just over 2L in a Yarmouth maiden (5f, soft) at the beginning of the month. Entitled to come on for that run and with the experience a plus, he should again be thereabouts.

Horse silk

€13,000 yearling. Seventh foal. Half-brother to 7f AW winner Windsor Cross (inc. at two) and French 1m3f/1m5f winner Kaniza, out of US 6f two-year-old stakes winner. Promising pedigree and stable among the winners. Could give a good account.

Horse silk

16,000gns yearling, resold for 12,000gns. Second foal of an unraced half-sister to 1m1f winner White Rosa out of 6f two-year-old AW Group 3 winner/Cheveley Park second. Stable's first juvenile runner this season. Usual strike rate 11%.

£15,000 at two. Fifth foal. Half-brother to winners Second Thought (6f-1m AW in at two/Listed) and Ifittakesforever (5f-6f AW) out of placed 6f/7f mare. Stable without a two-year-old winner in past five seasons.

9,000gns yearling. First foal. Unraced dam out of Listed-placed 5f two-year-old winning half-sister to Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Classic Park. Probably one to watch on debut.

Horse silk

10th foal. Half-sister to six winners, three of them over sprint trips (two of those at two). Dam 7f/1m winner, out of a useful 1m winner. Nice pedigree. Hooded for this debut. Stable usually 10% with two-year-olds. This first such runner of season.

Forecasts

Usain Boat (5/4), Axel Jacklin (6/1), Oliver Hardy (10/1), Buckingham (12/1), Swiss Peak (14/1), Coastguard Watch (14/1), Arctic Spirit (16/1), Taylormade (16/1), Heatherdown (16/1), Mohogany (20/1), Indian Viceroy (20/1), Sandridge Lad (25/1), Kenoughty (25/1), Red Island (33/1)

Verdict

Not a lot of experience brought to the table here and the suggestion is to side with the one who has had the most positive start of them, USAIN BOAT, to improve on his Yarmouth second this time. Axel Jacklin could also come on a fair bit for his Ripon debut now upped in trip and is respected. There are several interesting newcomers, from whom good debut performances would be no surprise. They include Heatherdown, Oliver Hardy, Buckingham and Arctic Spirit.
  1. Usain Boat
  2. Axel Jacklin
  3. Heatherdown
