Stable starting to tick along nicely now and have around a 15% strike-rate with their runners on debut. Cost 35,000 guineas as a yearling and the stable won this with a newcomer two seasons ago.

11/1
Yard do well with their juveniles but have yet to strike in this sphere in 2018 (0/4). Half-sister to an Italian 1m winner Droderic and the dam was a two-year-old winner over 1m. Worth noting in the market.

Dame Gladys22

9/2
Pedigree suggests that she'll be better over further but turned in a promising first effort at Ripon (5f, heavy) when looking rather inexperienced. Gradually found her feet in the race to finish second and capable of better here.

Devils Roc
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-0| J: R Winston| T: C Hills
9/1
Apparently going well at home but doesn't want the ground too quick. Stable have already had a newcomer go close this season but are yet to score with a two-year-old. Speedy pedigree; half-sister to sprint winner Rock For Baileys.

Farump

Yard not known for their juvenile debut winners although this one is a half-sister to several winners. Likely to be one or two sharper types in the field.

First foal by Footstepsinthesand out of a mare who was unraced by a half-sister to a 1m Group 3 winner (Chigun). Stable has a very modest record with debutante juveniles.

50/1
33/1 for her debut on the Tapeta at Newcastle and despite finishing last of eight shaped a little better than her finishing position. Will know more this time as she switches to turf but would need to improve dramatically.

Lady Katy11
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-0| J: J Garritty| T: W Jarvis
7/1
Looked green and inexperienced on her debut but appeared to learn through the race at Southwell on the Fibresand. Kept on well in the final furlong; likely to improve but may need a little further.
Looks an unlikely winner on her debut with the yard not known for their first-time out winners. Dam was a maiden and there looks to be more stamina than speed in the pedigree; easily passed over here.

Made a promising debut showing more than debutantes usually do from this yard when finishing runner-up at Yarmouth. Under pressure before most of the field but only beaten a neck by a well-fancied one; sure to improve.

Forecasts

Dame Gladys (9/2), Amber Spark (9/2), The Last Party (6/1), Lady Katy (7/1), Alicia Darcy (7/1), Devils Roc (9/1), Comedy (11/1), Capla Rock (16/1), Adventurous Girl (20/1), Farump (20/1), Fizzy Feet (25/1), Klopp (50/1), Sinndarella (66/1)

Verdict

Not that much to go on here with only four of the runners having been seen before. It usually pays to rely on experience in this situation and DAME GLADYS from a stable that do well with their juveniles showed promise on her debut. Both Lady Katy and The Last Party have had a run with the latter of that duo also showing that she had plenty of ability despite looking inexperienced for much of that contest. Given their pedigrees and trainers it won’t be a great surprise if Amber Spark, Comedy and Devils Roc turn out to be capable of winning something like this with the market giving clues as to their potential.
  1. Dame Gladys
  2. Amber Spark
  3. Devils Roc
