Well-fancied in the market when 4th on his debut last year on his only run for Saeed bin Suroor. Ran very green on that occasion and looks the sort to improve with that under his belt on his first run for his new yard.

Debutante who is a half-sister to 1m4f winner Monaco Rose but likely to find this a tough test with others making more appeal.

Well related sort who knew his job on debut despite starting at 33/1 and won quite nicely and the form has worked out (2nd/8th won next time out). Not in the same form on his only subsequent outing (got a bad trip) and may yet do better.

Half-brother to several winners who looks like he'll be suited by a little further. Yard not known for first time out winners and best watched here.

Has an appealing pedigree and that was reflected in his SP (7/2) on his debut at Kempton over 7f. Did well to finish third after meeting all sorts of problems in running but failed to match that promise on his turf debut (race may have come too soon)
Yard's runners usually need the run and this Declaration of War colt is best watched on his debut. His pedigree is appealing enough but he looks one for the longer term.

Green and made little impression on his sole run on the AW for Richard Hannon before having some wind surgery and moving to his current yard. This will be his second run since the wind op (also gelded now) but well held last time.

Trainer should also be respected with his debutantes and this one has a decent pedigree. Closely related to the smart winner (at up to 1m4f) Sultanina and a half-brother to useful 1m2f winner Coconut Creme; note in the market.

Looks the type this stable do well with (good record here and with debutantes) and he's well related on the dam's side who is from the family of 2000 Guineas winner Entrepreneur. Well worth a market check and noting for the future.

This 1m trip may suit a little better than the 7f he ran over on debut given his pedigree looks quite a stamina-laden one. Showed enough to work on in his only start so far and looks the sort to have further progress in him over further.

Quite well fancied in the market on his only appearance so far over 7f at Newmarket in a maiden. Gave the impression that he was one for the longer term though and was being brought along steadily.

His one run as a juvenile over a 1m on the AW really signalled that he's the type to do better with age and more racing. Now returns over the same trip and likely to know more but will be seen at his best over middle distances.

Showed promise on his debut last year when not fancied in the market at all and looking as though he needed further than a mile. Still looked very inexperienced on his return this year (1m again) and has improvement to come in the long term.

Forecasts

Employer (15/8), Red Striker (7/2), Kassar (5/1), Zamandas (7/1), Croque Monsieur (8/1), Mutafani (16/1), Armed (20/1), Boing (20/1), Arabic Culture (25/1), Progressive Dawn (25/1), Dyagilev (28/1), Boston T Party (33/1), Convinced (50/1), Tilsworth Rose (100/1)

Verdict

Quite a mixed bag with some likeable newcomers and a few that have already shown promise on the track and a chance is taken that CROQUE MONSIEUR will be up to making a winning debut from a yard that do well with this sort. Of those that have shown form already Kassar is a likely improver along with Employer who may need a little further as will Red Striker. Dyagilev is another making his debut who is worth noting in the market and Boing can’t be left out of the mix here despite disappointing last time after a debut full of promise.
  1. Croque Monsieur
  2. Kassar
  3. Dyagilev
