Expensive purchase (210,000 gns) who had two starts last term. Came on for his first run when winning at Chelmsford (6f, AW) in December. Step up in trip is likely to suit and is likely to improve again.
Also cost 210,000 gns as a yearling. Has a Derby entry and pedigree would suggest he might need a bit further than this. Interesting debutant all the same.
Son of Poet's Voice was a 14/1 chance on debut at Yarmouth (1m, good to firm) last week and finished last of 11. Should at least be better for the experience and too early to right off just yet. Tongue tie stays on.
Cost 75,000 gns as a yearling as is related to several winners. Trip looks ideal on paper and yards runners are starting to fire after a slow start. Market check needed.
Cheap purchase who ran a little better than the bare form suggests on debut at Newmarket (7f, good to soft) when hampered just over a furlong out and running pretty green. Should improve and more to come.
Cost 43,000 gns and has a nice pedigree. Likely to want further in time and yards runners tend to come on for their first run but well worth a market check.
Camelot colt that cost 170,000 gns. You can put a line through his first run as rider lost both irons coming out of the stalls and was never involved. Clearly thought capable of better. Hood goes on today.
Hasn't shown a great deal in two starts over this trip on the AW so far. Will need to improve a lot on switch to turf to be involved in the finish here. Handicaps likely to be the answer further down the line.
Forecasts
Mushtaq (11/4), Cacophonous (7/2), Giovanni (9/2), Eledeed (6/1), M C Muldoon (10/1), Olympic Odyssey (10/1), Cohen (12/1), Possibly So (25/1)
Market checks for the newcomers are advised here especially Eledeed and M C Muldoon who both have decent paper claims. This looks a good opportunity for MUSHTAQ to get his season off to a winning start. This step up in trip is likely to suit and he can take this on route to better things this season.
