Winner of back-to-back turf handicaps (September 2016) and then not seen for 19 months until shaping well over 1m2f on his return on the AW. Still 4lb above his last wining mark but ability looked to remain and will be suited by this trip.
Useful handicapper who has scored twice on the AW (both times over 2m) and now returns from a winter break. Raced too freely the last time he was soon and this trip looks a little short although he does travel well and this mark isn't too exacting.
Not seen on the Flat since last summer when disappointing in back-to-back handicaps (with previous yard) and has failed to build on a promising first outing over hurdles in two starts. Now given another try on the level for his jumps based yard.
Scored two wide-margin victories over C&D (one in a handicap) either side of the New Year. Has run well without winning in his last two starts over C&D being seen to maximum effect though on both occasions; cheekpieces now tried for first time.
Has been in sparkling form over the winter into the New Year winning seven times and rising steadily in the handicap. Now a three-time C&D winner he looked better than ever here last time out and bids to complete a hat-trick off a career high mark.
Returns from a break having not looked himself when last seen at Doncaster in the autumn over 1m6f. The headgear worn on that occasion is now left off (had wind surgery) but he looks as though this run will be needed.
Has come back from a heavy chasing fall to register two attempts that were both worth noting especially his comeback run. His overall record though means he's not one to get too carried away with and he might need an ease in grade to win on the Flat.
Very much confirmed the promise of his previous run (handicap debut) when showing improved form to win last time over this trip. Now takes a step up in grade off a 4lb higher mark but looks the sort to do better again and remains of interest.
This will be the shortest trip that she's tried this year and although it looks as though she remains in form she did get going late last time over 2f further. Will need a more positive ride/sharper start to get involved over this shorter trip.
Forecasts
Sky Eagle (11/10), Star Ascending (9/2), Dream Magic (6/1), Denmead (9/1), Agent Gibbs (11/1), Icefall (12/1), Lady Makfi (16/1), Hazamar (25/1), Beach Break (33/1)
An interesting handicap and a competitive one for the grade which should be run at a good pace thanks to the front-running Dream Magic who goes well around here but might find this better field harder to dominate. Sky Eagle looked as though he could handle a step up in class when winning last time and the booking of Andrea Atzeni is a plus. Lady Makfi looks as though she needs further and this looks best left to STAR ASCENDING to continue his rise through the ranks as he attempts to land another hat-trick (has already achieved a handicap four-timer). Agent Gibbs showed some promise on his return but might just need this again although this trip is more suitable.
- Star Ascending
- Sky Eagle
- Agent Gibbs
