€32,000 yearling by Roderic O'Connor. Hampered at the start on debut at Musselburgh last month (7f heavy) when finishing a well beaten fifth of seven to Queen's Sargent. Progression very much required.

Cost €26,000 as a yearling, this son of Dream Ahead (out of a 5f winner) was beaten just ½L by Golden Iris on debut at Lingfield recently (7f). Dropped in trip for the switch to turf.

Not overly eye-catching so far, but has looked green enough (reared in the stalls latest). Switches from synthetics to turf, but in truth looks the type for further down the line as opposed to today.

Epaulette gelding who was only making tentative first steps as a juvenile last back-end (6f), and can be expected to have strengthened up over the winter months. Handles cut, and sharper track helpful.
Unraced eighth foal by Dick Turpin out of a once-raced dam (Royal Punch). Half-brother to five sprint winners including Royal Rascal (6f Listed), Cocktail Charlie (5f) and Another Royal (5f-6f). Trainer also saddles the newcomer Supaulette.

Unraced first foal by Equiano out of the solid sprinter Mata Hari Blue (5f to 6f). Interesting to see if she attracts any sustained market support.

Forecasts

Rotherhithe (5/2), Dream Catching (11/4), Ad Valorem Queen (5/1), Battle Commence (7/1), Hop Maddocks (17/2), I Know How (9/1), Capla Demon (20/1), Supaulette (25/1), Scoundrel (25/1), Bluella (80/1)

Verdict

Possibly not masses of strength in depth, so the market should be monitored for clues with regards a few of these horses; namely the gelded Battle Commence, and the newcomers Scoundrel and Bluella. Ad Valorem Queen clearly out-performed the market expectations on debut at Kempton earlier this month, and assuming she can translate that form back to turf should figure fairly prominently, but we'll opt for the also once-raced DREAM CATCHING. Similar comments apply to the Andrew Balding trained three-year-old who ran a sound race on debut on the Lingfield Park Polytrack (7f).
  1. Dream Catching
  2. Ad Valorem Queen
  3. Battle Commence
