Bertolini gelding whose dam won over 1m and 1m1f. Belated debut at the age of six when finishing seventh of 10 at Newcastle. Best watched fitted with a hood for the first time.
Promise in novice company over C&D and at Chelmsford. Holds each-way claims, but suspicion remains that he may fare better when handicapping.
Nathaniel gelding who cost £190,000 as a yearling, but made just £12,000 as an unraced three-year-old in November, 2017. Beaten a long way on debut over 7f at this track and probably needs time to develop.
Soldier Hollow gelding who cost €67,000 as a yearling and is related to plenty of winners. Some late headway when sixth of nine on debut at Newbury a year ago, but has a long absence to overcome and should come on for the run.
Famous Name filly who cost only 6,000 gns at Newmarket sales last November.. Quite keen when chasing home an odds-on shot in a four-runner Newmarket maiden and should have benefited from the experience.
Declaration Of War colt who cost 105,000 gns as a yearling and is a half-brother to 1m2f winner Third Rock. Never got involved on recent debut at Kempton, but will be sharper this time.
Exceed and Excel colt who fetched 48,000 gns as a yearling and is a close relation of middle distance winner Big Ego. Makes his debut in a tongue tie and is worth a check in the betting market.
Gelded son of Acclamation who is a half-brother to 7f AW winner Muhajjal. Nice enough pedigree, but fitting of a visor on debut tempers enthusiasm.
Stepped up on Kempton debut when fairly-close third at Lingfield earlier this month. Seems to be going the right way and warrants plenty of respect.
Al Khazeem gelding who cost 70,000 gns as a foal and is from the family of a Group 1 winner in Hong Kong. May need this debut run, but is one to keep an eye on.
Speightstown colt who fetched 70,000 gns as a yearling and is a half-brother to three winners over middle distances. Represents a top stable and is worth a check in the betting.
Promise on debut at Kempton over 1m and was keen enough when third over 1m2f at Lingfield last time. Drop in trip may help so he looks one of the main players.
By high-class Australian miler Helmet, he cost €27,000 as a two-year-old and his dam was placed over 6f and 7f. Never figured on debut at Kempton and may need more time to prosper.
Forecasts
Kawasir (11/8), West Wing (11/8), Stage Name (12/1), Player's Luck (12/1), Keir Hardie (20/1), Tinos (25/1), Bold Warrior (33/1), World Breaker (40/1), Khazix (50/1), Excelabit (50/1), Hoott (100/1), Muraaqeb (100/1), Bertilatethannever (100/1)
Several newcomers add spice to this contest and the best of them may be Player's Luck. However, Stage Name, Kawasir and WEST WING bring fair form to the table and the latter gets the vote on the premise that he should appreciate stepping down in trip after being a little too keen last time. Tinos has been off the track for a while, but is promising and worth keeping an eye on.
- West Wing
- Kawasir
