Reappears after a lengthy absence following a decent effort on his handicap debut back in 2016. Had already won a Kempton maiden (6f, Polytrack) prior to that. Will be interesting to see if he retains his ability on ground that could suit.
Scored on soft ground at Hamilton (6f) in September from just 2lb lower. Appeared held by the handicapper since then, but hinted at a return to better last time and not ruled out back on turf.
0-7 on turf, with all three of his wins being at All Weather tracks over 5f/6f. 5lb higher than the most recent of those but turf form is far less encouraging on soft ground and others are preferred.
No win on turf for four years and only had one run on it in 2017. Best efforts have been on a soft surface, though that was some time ago and seems to reserve the good stuff for AW surfaces these days. Has won in headgear and visor now tried.
Latest of his four turf wins came on soft ground at Musselburgh (5f) in August from 2lb higher. Arrives in decent form after a couple of placed efforts on All Weather and has claims from this mark now reverting to turf.
Remains a maiden though has made the frame five times from 14 starts on turf. Has been unable to find a bit extra in the closing stages on several occasions and his record so far when fresh is offputting. Probably best watched.
Was in good form on the Fibresand in February/March and has won over C&D on soft ground when 9lb higher in 2016. Ran well again back here on most recent turf run in November and not ruled out of the prize money.
Has been running well on the Fibresand this year and goes on any ground on turf. Fitness not an issue on return to this surface and cannot be ruled out on a mark from which she has proved herself very competitive.
Catterick specialist and prolific winning veteran who goes well on soft ground. Has slipped to a more competitive mark after being beaten comfortably in several recent runs but does need to show some signs of revival.
Trip and ground suit this seven-year-old though recent form suggests that he will have too much on his plate here from out of the handicap.
Without a win in 34 starts across both turf and All Weather. Well held in all but one of her eight starts in 2018 and impossible to recommend her from 6lb 'wrong'.
Forecasts
Vintage Dream (9/2), Just Maybe (11/2), Coiste Bodhar (6/1), Piazon (7/1), Culloden (7/1), Kingstreet Lady (7/1), Fareeq (8/1), Dodgy Bob (14/1), Robbian (16/1), Sir Geoffrey (22/1), Celerity (66/1)
Just Maybe looks well worth a market check to gauge any confidence in his ability to pick up on his handicap debut from two seasons ago, while Kingstreet Lady could go very well and Dodgy Bob is another to consider. Preference, however, is for CULLODEN who acts on the ground, comes here in decent form and is on a feasible mark.
- Culloden
- Kingstreet Lady
- Just Maybe
