Denied a hat-trick over this trip at Southwell last time out, but still ran fairly well and should be capable of acting off this mark. Has looked better since moving to this yard/for this jockey.
Not seen on the Flat since last August but has made a couple of low-key performances over hurdles since. Hasn't had much racing in handicaps yet and this is a potentially appealing mark.
Put in a fine effort over this C&D three starts ago, and though she has run two slightly less impressive races since the return to this course may see her to better effect.
Has lost her way over her past couple of runs over further than this. Has questions to ask now dropped in trip. Additionally, is only 1/26 in her career so not a great overall strike-rate.
Has shown ability in the past but form has tailed off over the past year or so. Possible that a first-time visor may be able to reignite some of that spark.
Has been tried over a variety of trips recently with limited success. Back down below his most winning handicap mark here though with a top jockey taking the ride, so he holds claims.
Steps up to this trip for the first time after a few low-key runs over shorter than this. Hasn't looked like she particularly wants further, so has to prove that she stays this far.
Has often had an interrupted career and this is his first run since July 2016. Can only be watched especially given the level of form he was showing prior to that absence.
Has been running much better since switching to handicap company at Southwell, and possible he could be seen to better effect on this surface. Makes some each-way appeal.
Remains a maiden after six races and hasn't looked any closer to getting off the mark since racing in handicaps. Wears first-time cheek pieces here; looks set for another minor role.
Usually shows his best over this trip and has also won at this course in the past, though perhaps notable that those wins came when the surface was Polytrack (yet to score on Tapeta).
Wins infrequently enough these days but took a step in the right direction off a basement mark at Chelmsford last time and now steps back up in trip having had wind surgery.
Forecasts
Avocet (9/4), Wintour Leap (9/2), Air Ministry (5/1), Riverside Bridge (8/1), Nouvelle Ere (8/1), Tingo In The Tale (10/1), Flying Power (14/1), Sevilla (20/1), Miss Danby (25/1), Cosmic Dust (50/1), Orobas (80/1), Madame Mime Artist (100/1)
AVOCET has looked a much improved horse since moving to the yard of exciting trainer Olly Murphy, during which time he has been ridden by Adam Kirby in most of his races, who takes the ride today. He may have been denied a short odds last time out but that was still a fair effort and he deserves another chance here. Others to note include Riverside Bridge, who has been running fairly well in Southwell handicaps recently, and Air Ministry on his return to the Flat.
- Avocet
- Riverside Bridge
- Air Ministry
