Reached his zenith at the end of last year winning consecutive races at Exeter and Hereford over staying trips. The handicapper appeared to treat him very harshly for those two wins though and he still looks very high in the weights.

Now goes handicapping having come out on top on his first run for this yard after a break and looks as though he can do better given he was value for more than the winning margin. Makes his handicap debut and may be able to do even better.

Age: 7|  Weight: 11-10| J: Ben Hicks(10)| T: W Greatrex| OR:  124

Makes his handicap debut off what looks to be a tough mark given that his win last time came in a fairly weak small-field event. Showed a good attitude when winning though and that will stand him in good stead but others are stronger.

This Irish point-to-point winner (on debut) is in good hands and he's shown promise in his two runs so far and now goes handicapping. Lacks a little experience but will appreciate this trip; chasing looks to be his ultimate aim.

Looked to be thriving on his racing when completing a quick-fire hat-trick earlier in the year in testing conditions. Winning run came to an end at Ayr last time where it was the rise in the weights rather than the ground that floored him.

Ventures back into handicap company for a new yard having been dropped into selling company for his last win. Didn't need to be anywhere near his best to win that contest and will find this much tougher.

Age: 8|  Weight: 11-7| J: H Cobden| T: C L Tizzard| OR:  121

Upped in trip with first-time cheekpieces on he finally got off the mark at Southwell off a 9lb lower mark. Proved that he was capable off this mark when runner-up last time out giving weight to an improving sort and should give his running again.

Back to his last winning mark of 113 but has looked laboured of late and his last two runs have done nothing to dispel that notion. Hard to fashion a concrete case for him here in a competitive field.

Came back from a fair old break to cause an upset of a 6lb lower mark in November over 2m here for his former yard. Ran with credit on his first run for this yard and away from Wincanton for the first time after a break; trip looks suitable.

Travelled well under a patient ride in very testing conditions to win a C&D handicap last time with a fair bit in hand (has a good record here overall). Handicapper has had his say and put her up 10lb; career best needed off this mark.

Forecasts

Brynmawr (11/4), Jammin Masters (7/2), Daytime Ahead (6/1), Get Out The Gate (13/2), Broken Quest (8/1), Reelingintheyears (9/1), Garde Forestier (10/1), Zero Grand (25/1), Old Harry Rocks (33/1), Agincourt Reef (33/1)

Verdict

This is competitive and several of these come here in good form with Daytime Ahead a very impressive winner here last time out improving her course record although she now has to repeat the dose off a 10lb higher mark. Brynmawr has been in good heart of late his upturn in form coinciding with that of the Tizzard yard while Get Out Of The Gate has already registered some good novice hurdle form and now makes his handicap debut for a yard that can never be left out here. REELINGINTHEYEARS is another handicap debutante though who looks to have plenty to offer and he’s chosen to get his career in this sphere off to a successful start.

  2. Daytime Ahead
  3. Brynmawr
