Form in three maidens last summer, including here on debut (6f, good to firm) was decadently poor. First attempt at minimum trip and ground a total unknown.
Vocalised gelding who has a pedigree it's fairly tough to get excited about. Beaten a long way in 1m Naas maiden on debut recently on soft to heavy. Drops right back in trip here.
Useful efforts in three 5f maiden at Naas last year, including on yielding ground in October (went close on good to firm in debut). Standard setter on return from winter recess.
Zoffany colt has shaped with purpose in both starts so far, including in recent reappearance at Cork (7f, heavy) in a maiden when 10L third of nine. Attempts minimum trip for the first time.
Frontrunner, has shown up with plenty potential at times in seven-race career, though only made the frame once. Drops to the minimum for the first time, handles a testing surface.
Red Jazz colt finished midfield in decent 6f Curragh maiden last May on good ground (won by Beckford) and off since. Drops in journey and could be more to come now as a three-year-old.
Vocalised colt appears for the first time. Bolger yard slow enough to get going so far (0-13) and sports a hood on debut.
Swiss Spirit filly made promising start over C&D last May (½L second, good) before getting turned over at odds-on in August at Tipperary. Not much to take from reappearance at Naas (6f, soft to heavy) a fortnight ago and potentially best watched.
Sent off 25/1 and beaten 9L in 6f Naas maiden on soft to heavy a fortnight ago on first turf start. Has improvement to find now dropping in trip if hoping for more than a minor role.
Two runs on the AW at Dundalk so far, shaping well enough on second of those over this trip. Going to meet an entirely different set of conditions underfoot now.
Forecasts
Pretty Boy Floyd (9/4), Urban Beat (7/2), King Of Leinster (4/1), Hawaam (6/1), Rego Park Lady (10/1), Crown Leah (12/1), Very Smart (16/1), Vocal Relation (16/1), Callanach (25/1), Simbas Song (100/1)
It might be worth taking a chance on VERY SMART at decent odds. She has shaped well enough in two outings at Dundalk to be of some interest here and, if she handles the underfoot conditions, can get involved. The standard however is set by Hawaam on his efforts at Naas last. He handles most ground and should go close in the new headgear. Pretty Boy Floyd could see things out better from the front over this shorter journey and is another to consider.
- Very Smart
- Hawaam
- Pretty Boy Floyd
