Frustrating over hurdles in that he has finished a runner-up seven times without winning. Also a runner-up on his chasing debut at Southwell in August 2016 but wasn't seen out again struggling in a Grade 2 event at Doncaster in January.

Promise shown at times over hurdles and came good on his third chase start when winning a four-runner event over 2m3f (soft) in February. Every chance here with a repeat of that but took a step backwards with a poor run at Hereford latest.

Admiral's Secrett40
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-4| J: Conor Shoemark| T: V R A Dartnall| OR:  112
Placed twice hurdles on soft ground and the penny dropped with him over fences last time when driven out to score a narrow win at Ludlow (2m, good to soft). Remains open to improvement and travels all the way from Devon for this.

Chateau Chinonh131
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-11| J: Brendan Powell| T: S A Harris| OR:  105
Only flickers of promise in novice hurdles for Dan Skelton before a mediocre chasing debut for Rebecca Menzies over 2m at Hexham (heavy) in November when beaten 32L behind Celtic Flames. Has changed yards again and has plenty to find here.

Forecasts

Admiral's Secret (10/11), Ballycamp (2/1), Bigpipenotobacee (6/1), Chateau Chinon (10/1)

Verdict

Victor Dartnell sends ADMIRAL'S SECRET all the way from Devon for this and there is every chance he will be rewarded. The seven-year-old has taken a bit of time to get his act together but he dug deep to open his account at Ludlow last time and the form has a real solid look given that the third and fourth have since won races at Kempton and Ascot respectively. Bigpipenotobacee rates the biggest danger if able to reproduce the form he showed to win over slightly further here last month.
