Cheekpieces appear to have worked the oracle and she's shown improved form since being fitted with them. Having gone close on her penultimate start she made all to win over C&D off a 2lb lower mark; tough sort (found for pressure), respected.

Having shown very little when trained in Ireland she offered a lot more on her stable/Fibresand debut over a mile. Brought back here quickly but dropped to this trip she went one better and can be effective again off 6lb higher.

A record of 2/58 gives you an idea of what you are dealing with and despite a couple of decent runs here not one to rely on. Missed the break here last time and better judged on previous runs but they still leave him short of what is required.

Blinkers now go on in an effort to eke out some further improvement having run well here over C&D on Fibresand debut. Things didn't quite go to plan on her last run here (best judged on previous run) and still has a lowly mark to work with.

Little to show for three runs on Fibresand (yet to try this trip) but her overall form makes it hard to fashion a case even in this grade. Ran poorly last time on Tapeta and not one to rely on.

0/8 on Fibresand he now returns after a long break having been last seen at Redcar (6f, heavy) turning in what was a typically lazy effort. Best watched on this occasion.

There have been a couple of occasions when he has looked as though he may be able to take a low-grade Fibresand handicap but his recent form is poor. Cheekpieces tried for the first-time on his last start are retained; looks out of sorts.

Could be given a chance on one piece of Fibresand form from a 7f handicap but has never shown anything approaching that in subsequent outings here. Blinkers go back on here with an accompanying tongue-tie; hard to fashion a case now.

Now looks to have regressed from the form that she showed when with John Quinn which was modest at best. Has shown next to nothing in three out of her four starts for this yard and easily passed over.

Very little to show for her seven Fibresand attempts and slow starts on her last two AW outings have proved to be a handicap. Looks a poor maiden and likely to remain so after this outing.

Forecasts

Da Capo Dandy (7/4), Shelneverwalkalone (9/4), Blistering Dancer (8/1), New Tale (8/1), High Anxiety (14/1), Robbian (20/1), Celerity (25/1), All Or Nothin (25/1), She's Zoff (25/1), Madakheel (66/1)

Verdict

A very modest end to the card and very few of these make that much appeal with the pair at the top of the handicap looking to be the only two who could break out of this grade in the future. Shelneverwalkalone showed commendable resolution to battle on for her C&D win here and should go well again but the slight suspicion is that DA CAPO DANDY holds more scope and she’s given the vote for a follow-up. Of the others the first-time blinkered High Anxiety may well be able to get involved if she repeats her Fibresand debut while Blistering Dancer is another with similar claims based on a couple of starts here.
  1. Da Capo Dandy
  2. Shelneverwalkalone
  3. High Anxiety
