$325,000 yearling who broke his duck at the fifth attempt for Charles Hills in a Lingfield maiden in October (1m). Moved on for 65,000 gns the following month and reappears under a penalty in the first time visor.
600,000 gns yearling who struck at the first time of asking at Doncaster in July 2016 (7f), beating Total Star by 1½L. Back from a lengthy absence at Chelmsford in December (handicap) and things didn't go his way from an early stage there.
130-rated chaser, but with very limited Flat experience. His sole AW start so far came in a 1m2f maiden here earlier in the month (finished sixth of ten to Morning Skye), and he appears to be awaiting a handicap mark.
Belated debut at the age of six, gelded, and although bred for the surface, hard to make much of a case for from a yard that have a poor overall strike rate. Stable doubly represented.
Showed little in bumpers for Tina Jackson and has only taken marginal steps forward in a couple of Flat spins at Southwell (6f-7f). Needs this run in order to qualify for a handicap mark.
Runner up over the extended mile at Hamilton in June 2017; beaten 1¼L by Titi Makfi. Absent since, but has other pieces of placed form which justify his official rating of 77. Fitness to prove on AW debut. Locally trained near Morpeth.
30,000 gns yearling and a half-brother to a useful winner up to 7f in Rimth, and Pipe Bomb who won at up to 1m1f. Slowly into stride and far too green to do himself justice on debut at Southwell recently (7f).
Unraced first foal by Shirocco out of a maiden dam (China Lily). Stable are doubly represented, but a major surprise if either of the pair are anywhere near good enough in this contest.
Has only seen the rear-end of her rivals in a couple of AW appearances which came 18 months or so apart (5f and 7f). To all intents and purposes, difficult to imagine anything else other than a repeat tonight.
Rear division finishes in three starts in bumpers, and met with a similar fate when switched to the Flat (1m4f) here earlier in the month. Down in trip, but needs a miracle.

A thick black line can be firmly inked through a number of these horses with their chance of winning slim to non-existent in this type of contest. Imperial Focus has more racing experience than the majority and fitness aside, you sort of understand his realistic level of ability (mid 70's rated handicapper). Both Dawaaleeb and SAMHARRY are never going to justify their lofty price tags as yearlings and evidently the selection has been beset with a problems since making a winning debut in July 2016. On the strength of an impressive Newcastle strike rate for the Gosden representatives (18/46; 39%), he's narrowly preferred to Les Eyre's 65,000 gns new recruit.
