Left James Fanshawe for 30,000 gns in November and is steadily working back to form as his mark slowly eases. Beaten 3¼L by Chocolate Box at Chelmsford recently (2m), and surely won't find dropping back in trip disadvantageous.
Finished third (rated 93) in the Thirsk Hunt Cup in May 2017 for previous trainer Brian Ellison, but failed to fire in four further starts before moving on cheaply for 800 gns in November. Beaten in a jumpers bumper on recent stable debut.
Made just the sole previous start on the AW, and that was back in June 2016 (debut). Runner up over this trip at Doncaster in August from a similar mark and that gives him a shout, but ended the turf season more tamely.
Versatile in terms of surface (AW or turf), but off the track since racing over keenly here in November (1m2f). Feasibly handicapped but couldn't be recommended at present.
Stays this trip, despite the fact that his two previous course successes have come over 1m2f. Could be in better form but slipping slowly back down the weights and that's most likely been his major barrier to further success.
C&D winner in June 2016 (rated 78), and also managed to score three times on turf during the early part of 2017 before badly losing his way. Refreshed following a six month break and therefore rates as tricky to assess.
Runner up over C&D from a 7lb higher mark in November (beaten 1L by Sir Chauvelin) but not able to build upon that effort. Never won beyond 1m2f+, so the jury is out about his strength at the finish over 1m4f.
11 race Flat maiden (mainly turf), but off the mark in a 2m jumpers bumper here earlier in the month (course rode slower than the official going report), when beating Big Thunder by 1L. Every chance with riders 5lb claim a plus.
Has climbed 9lb in the handicap since switched to the AW, and arrives as a dual C&D winner. However, he sits just outside of the weights in a stronger race after a fair Wolverhampton (1m4f) third latest.
Forecasts
Sam Missile (11/4), Rainbow Rebel (7/2), Theglasgowwarrior (7/2), Mister Belvedere (8/1), L'Inganno Felice (8/1), Jamacho (10/1), Corton Lad (20/1), Stipulate (33/1), Be Perfect (66/1)
Both Sam Missile and JAMACHO arrive as last time out winners, with the market most likely to be giving more positive vibes for the top-weighted Melbourne 10 Racing owned horse. His claims are fairly obvious ones, and slowly working back to form of late, he could well prove to be a class above these rivals over a trip he should relish (1m4f). However, Jamacho showed he was no shrinking violet winning a 2m jumpers bumper on a cold, snowy afternoon earlier this month, and he receives 19lb (with his riders 5lb claim) from the likely market leader.
- Jamacho
- Sam Missile
- Rainbow Rebel
