4/1
Has ability on the Flat, signs of promise behind the useful Molineux at Wincanton but well beaten off when unseating at the last at Huntingdon last time. Needs to get back on track now and may be one for handicaps.

Shown little in four starts and signs of temperament to boot. Hard to make any sort of a case for, and others easily preferred.
Has shown more than enough in two hurdles starts (and a Jumpers Bumper) to suggest he's up to taking a hand in this. Outclassed (but far from disgraced) behind Apple's Shakira at Cheltenham but this much easier. Looks a player.
Bred for the job, half-brother to a few French winners and ought to be useful given time. Yard having a quiet season by their own high standards, however, and only of interest if the money comes.
Useful enough pedigree and should be up to winning a race or two in time, yard tend to let theirs find their feet as they go but this is a weak enough event for him to be considered all the same. Market will guide.

Winner on the Flat (for Ed Walker) but it's not happened for him over hurdles yet. Better when completing at Warwick last time but may be one more for handicaps this spring. Others preferred.

Winner in the French Provinces and clearly plenty was expected on debut at Kempton, sent off only a 2-1 chance to defeat the useful Redicean, but most disappointing. Should be capable of better, but already needs treating with care.

50/1 second at wetherby two starts back was no fluke, as he had shown some ability before that, but he couldn't follow it up and took a backwards step at Sedgefield last time. Chances on best form but no guarantees of that.
9
Horse silk
100/1
Done very little in bumpers and a novice hurdle to suggest he's going to get anywhere near the principals here.
Low grade on the Flat, with just the one win to 17 starts to his name. Can only be watched on hurdles debut here, with the ground plenty testing enough for her as well.

Forecasts

Broughtons Admiral (9/4), Aardwolf (4/1), Salix (4/1), Rococo River (4/1), Romanor (12/1), Titan (12/1), Don Herbager (20/1), Righteous River (100/1), Venetian Proposal (100/1), Blackjacktennessee (150/1)

Verdict

It's obvious that someone thought Salix was much better than he showed at Kempton on his debut but he didn't show it, for whatever reason, and it's possible he'll simply leave that behind and prove too good for these. But he'll be short enough price to do so, and preference is for BROUGHTON ADMIRAL, who already has the form in the bank and simply has less questions to answer than many of his opponents. Money for Rococo River would mean he needs taking very seriously. Aardwolf needs to bounce back.
  1. Broughtons Admiral
  2. Salix
  3. Rococo River
