Best when allowed a soft lead as demonstrated in a farcical contest at Newcastle in February. Stood plenty of racing since then and also a winner over 1m2f at Chelmsford earlier this month. Shortlist material.
Very lightly raced for his age (cost 3,000 gns in November 2017). Beaten 5L by Tagur on his Fibresand debut at Southwell last week (1m claimer). Upped in trip.
His overall career profile isn't the most encouraging, with his sole AW success coming way back in 2014 (Wolverhampton). Races from a career low mark after finishing last of seven; hampered in the run, over 7f at Lingfield latest.
His last ten starts have come at Wolverhampton, and he's versatile over both 1m and 1m1f. A winner over the shorter trip in November from a 1lb higher mark, he blew the start latest, so that effort can be ignored.
3-42 career profile, one of those successes being here over 1m½f in 2016, when rated 7lb higher. Made the frame over C&D last month, but beaten 6¾L by Beepeecee.
Regularly makes the trip to Wolverhampton from his Scottish base, and generally runs well without necessarily winning (1 from 14 on the AW). Twice placed over C&D last month and similarly handicapped, but tends to get motoring too late.
An 11 race maiden, but with fairly limited experience of synthetics. Ran his best race to date when beaten a neck by Outrath (1m3f Class 7, Kempton) latest. Debatable as to whether or not he'll back that up over a shorter trip.
Irish raider who we've not seen in competitive action since October. Tends to blow his chance at the start (seven race maiden), but finished a runner up on his sole start on the AW at Dundalk (1m) and a longer trip looks helpful.
Races from a career low mark, but is now an 18 race maiden. Not beaten all that far over the extended mile here latest (third) and whilst he's clearly moderate, this race is far from a deep contest.
Forecasts
Templemary Boy (2/1), New Abbey Angel (4/1), Raakid (9/2), Dragonite (9/1), Rightway (9/1), Outlaw Torn (10/1), John Caesar (12/1), Lesanti (14/1), Top Offer (22/1)
Once more not the type of contest in which punters will be likely to be delving over deeply into their pockets, but there'll be a winner. Templemary Boy is an intriguing Irish raider, and he'd have strong claims over this longer trip with a tendency to fluff the start. The shortlisted Outlaw Torn will force the pace throughout, and that could just serve to set this up for a finisher, so with NEW ABBEY ANGEL fitting that profile best of all, this could be his day to finally strike at Dunstall Park.
- New Abbey Angel
- Templemary Boy
- Outlaw Torn
