Below form when last seen in a Kempton handicap although the change of tactics (held-up) would not have helped. Has slipped below his last winning mark but not the most consistent sort and only has a place chance here.
The drop to 6f last time hardly looked to suit and he's not one to ignore of what is now a falling mark. Drops into this grade (0-75) for the first time and one to take a look at back over a more suitable trip.
Winner of a claimer here in January over 7f he didn't need to be at his best making it three wins from his last four starts at that point. Below form in two runs for this yard back in handicaps over 6f; more needed now to make an impact.
Twice a winner over C&D he shaped better than the distance he was beaten by here over 7f last time. He's currently going through a good spell and finished with running left under a quiet ride; a repeat would see him go close (travels strongly).
His one run here resulted in a winning debut but he's only scored once since then recording a surprise win at 33/1 over 7f on turf. Hinted that he was a little quirky on his first run back from a break and below form last time; best watched for now.
Five -time winner here and 123 over C&D lots of his best efforts have come when fresh and his last win came in such circumstances (dropped in grade). Running with credit of late but beaten in a 6f seller last time out and this is tougher.
Held his own without winning in some decent turf handicaps last summer and now returns after a winter break. Still without a handicap win though and beaten off similar marks before he may just need the outing against some race-fit types.
Showed his best recent form when down to a career-low mark over C&D in early January and although he's not repeated that form there have been excuses. Only 2lb higher than his last win and worth another chance to build on his C&D win.
A drop into 0-70 company proved to be the catalyst for a welcome win (his first since late 2016) and he should remain with scope for further wins now. Looks the type to build on that win over C&D and only upped 3lb for that win; sound chance.
A drop back below his last winning mark was responsible for his 6f win on Tapeta but he failed to capitalise on that win in his next two starts (aggressively ridden both times). Faced a stiff task last time but ran well under a more conservative ride
Usually seen at his best at Brighton over the summer and not seen since a below par run on the Fibresand at the end of last year. Has won over C&D but that came off a 5lb lower mark and likely to need this after an absence.
Appears to have curtailed his good spell that he found when with Robert Cowell at the end of last year wining twice over sprint trips. Fared poorly in his two starts for this yard (both over 6f) and is looking increasingly quirky; usually slow away.
Won on his first run back for his old yard routing his opponents in 0-60 company on Tapeta over a mile. His two subsequent starts have suggested he remains in form although this trip is a worry and he's without the apprentice he's won with.
Quickly came good for this yard winning on his second start for them over 6f here (enjoyed the run of the race). The positives effects of the new yard have appeared to wear off in his last two starts however and more needed here over this trip.
Forecasts
Sayesse (11/4), Sea Shack (6/1), Pour La Victoire (7/1), Varsovian (7/1), In The Red (10/1), Cyrus Dallin (12/1), Rock Icon (12/1), Dutiful Son (14/1), Time To Reason (14/1), Toriano (14/1), Gold Club (20/1), Bahamian Heights (20/1), Tavener (20/1), Black Caesar (25/1)
There could be some trouble in running with 14 going to post around here and luck in running will be at a premium. Sea Shack will be popular but he’s back from a break and faces some race-fit rivals here and SAYESSE who is only upped 3lb for his C&D win is given the vote. Plenty of others can be given a chance among them Pour La Victoire who got a hands-and-heels ride last time and may still have something to give in this good spell. Time To Reason enters the picture off a workable mark dropping in grade with Toriano and Varsovian two others that can be given a shout.
- Sayesse
- Pour La Victoire
- Time To Reason
