Glimpses of promise in novice events before a better effort over C&D on his handicap debut when a ¾L fourth behind Marshal Dan. A bit short of room that day, so likely there is more to come. Obvious claims.
Has improved with each run to date, culminating in a second-place effort over 1m here on her handicap debut last month. Interesting to see her dropped back in trip but raised 3lb and needs to pull out more.
Generally disappointing in four starts last term but better this year since returning from a gelding operation, opening his account at Kempton (1m) last month. Just touched off over 7f at Chelmsford last time and should remain competitive.
Winner of a weak race on soft ground over 5f last June and was well held in three nurseries over further afterwards. Underwhelming reappearance over 1m at Kempton in January and no surprise if handicapper still has upper hand.
Cheaply bought gelding (2,500 guineas) who dips his toe into handicap company for the first time on the back of three relatively modest efforts in AW novice events. Others more convincing.
Half-brother to three-time AW winner Murdanova who has served up a couple of decent efforts over this C&D in novice company without looking like winning. No surprise to see him step things up on his handicap debut.
Best effort from seven starts when a runner-up from this mark over 5 at Wolverhampton in November but hasn't kicked on in two runs this year. The blinkers which were tried last time have been quickly dispensed with and stamina is unproven.
Little to get excited about in three AW maidens so far up to 1m2f, going off at odds of 33/1 or bigger. For all that, she goes handicapping off a lowly mark and a positive market move would be interesting.
Has barely beaten a rival in three starts to start and races from out of the weights on his handicap debut. Improbable that the introduction of a visor will be enough to win this.
Forecasts
Freebe Rocks (11/4), Cloud Eight (3/1), Dolly Mixture (5/1), New Orleans (6/1), Nampara (7/1), Straight Ash (10/1), Duba Plains (12/1), Aiglette (25/1), Paco Style (33/1)
CLOUD EIGHT didn't enjoy the clearest of passages when fancied for his handicap debut over C&D last month so, in the event, did well to finish a close-up fourth behind Marshal Dan. He has been raised just 1lb for that and this race looks there for the taking with improvement anticipated. Freebe Rocks and Dolly Mixture look the biggest dangers from a form perspective but a market move for one of the handicaps debutants New Orleans or Aiglette would be interesting.
- Cloud Eight
- Freebe Rocks
- New Orleans
