All four career victories have been gained off higher marks than this. Back to his optimum trip, but there have been few clues he retains the ability to maximise the opportunity.

Lower in the weights than sole career win to date but needs improvement after tame efforts on last two starts. Cheekpieces are removed.

Winner of six races, but on a losing streak which now exceeds a year following moderate efforts on last two starts. Back to his last winning trip and off a lower mark, but needs to start better than has been the case lately.

Unlucky to bump into a couple of fancied horses at Wolverhampton and Chelmsford ahead of his latest run. That was from a poor draw and 24 hours after his prior start. Down in grade and on a quicker track, there is every chance he will go close.

Had gone 28 starts without a win prior to opening his account on his debut for this yard at Chelmsford in December. Followed up in an apprentice race last week and so escapes a penalty. Obvious chance if the drop to 7f does not backfire.

Record of 2-30 but without a win since November 2013. Often thereabouts but others have more obvious appeal for win purposes.

Two of his three wins have come over this specialist distance and he has dropped to a workable mark. Looks the type for whom blinkers could do the trick and drawn to get a good tow into the race under a jockey who rides this track well.

Has claims if going back far enough in the form book. Has shown signs of temperament and recent performances have been discouraging.

Has run well off higher marks in the past but her latest efforts have been dire and she would be hard to consider.

Beaten just under 10L when last of eleven last time and that is the closest he has come to winning. Tongue-tie tried this time by a stable that have landed a couple of gambles lately.

Showed the benefit of wind surgery and a low mark to score on his handicap debut. Allowed to dictate the pace that day and the opposition may not be so accommodating this time. However, this is a drop in class and an opportunity to defy a penalty.

Verdict

A typically modest class seven contest in which it is rare to have two runners with winning form last time. Ertidaad has been in good form lately and has twice scored over 1m, whilst Darkest Light took advantage of rivals in better company last week and could well deliver again despite his penalty. However, he faces a challenge for the lead from BE BOLD who has twice gone close against well-supported rivals before a stiffer track and poor draw found him out last week. Dropped in class over an easier 7f there is every chance he can go close at rewarding odds for each-way purposes.
  1. Be Bold
  2. Darkest Light
  3. Ertidaad
