Has made up into a useful hurdler and holds a "Triumph" entry. Best Flat form has come over further, but his hurdling exploits show he is better since being ridden from the front and he has the class to dominate these.
Has shown little aptitude for hurdling. Had previously shown enough on Flat handicap debut to suggest he is fairly treated and open to improvement at this trip.
Gained a 12th AW success last time under this rider with an enforced change of tactics paying off. More to do in this company off a higher mark.
Southwell winner in December and has been placed twice since from this mark. If he runs to the same level again then he would be expected to go close.
3-13 on AW tracks and placed on six other occasions. Yet to win here but has been second in three of his four attempts. Stable in good form currently and easy to see him producing a good display.
Sole win in 20 starts came in a poor maiden and he has struggled to recapture his best form. Change of stables may help and they are 6-21 with their older horses on the AW in 2018.
Landed a couple of minor races in the French provinces on good-to-soft. Has failed to cut the mustard over hurdles and on the Flat, but new mark offers her a chance to show more.
Took advantage of a wet summer to post back-to-back wins at Newbury and Chepstow (1m4f). Has won here over 6f and 2m in 2015-16, but latest efforts have been noteworthy for his weak finishing effort. Wind surgery may help him bounce back.
Dual German winner who just failed to get up at Lingfield last time in better company. May well have won had he not hung briefly when delivering his challenge, so no surprise should he gain compensation this time.
Couple of good runs in maidens over shorter on the Flat and one decent effort over hurdles. Related to a couple of middle-distance winners, so there is scope for improvement tackling this trip for the first time.
Five-time winner on turf and hard to judge her AW exploits so far. Latest came here six weeks ago following a four month break, when not knocked about. Her AW mark looks attractive compared to that on turf and visor tried now,
Forecasts
Sussex Ranger (11/8), Native Fighter (3/1), Boychick (13/2), Luv U Whatever (11/1), Sonnetist (12/1), Becca Campbell (20/1), Broadway Dreams (25/1), Multigifted (25/1), Deduce (33/1), Cape Banjo (40/1), Tidal Watch (50/1)
Sussex Ranger could prove hard to catch if adopting the same front-running tactics that have seen him develop into a useful hurdler. However, should he set a good gallop he may set this up nicely for BECCA CAMPBELL. The mare is lightly raced on synthetic surfaces, but her two turf victories last term place her on a good mark if adapting to the conditions. Native Fighter and Boychick have to be respected on recent efforts, but Luv U Whatever faces a much harder task this time. Broadway Dreams is lightly raced on the Flat and is open to improvement at this trip, whilst cases can also be made for Sonnetist, Tidal Watch and Multigifted.
- Becca Campbell
- Native Fighter
