Having gone close on his only previous AW start, he won a Chester maiden last summer but hasn't quite kicked on in the manner expected. Still, remains open to progress as he returns from a 141 day break and marks looks workable.

Irish raider who opened his account at the fifth attempt when taking a 1m handicap at Dundalk in December. Had the worst of the draw when producing a solid third-place effort over 1m at Lingfield recently. Potential player.

Luna Eclipse24

Has shaped with reasonable promise in three novice events over 5f, 6f and 7f so far without ever looking like winning. Opening marks looks fair and no surprise if the step up to 1m elicits further improvement.

Ended his juvenile campaign with his best effort yet when finishing third at Epsom over 7f and made an encouraging return when chasing home easy winner, Technological, over this trip at Wolverhampton. Should come on for that, respected.

33/1
A £100,000 yearling purchase but sold for just 6,000 gns after struggling on a lone start for Richard Fahey. Two respectable efforts in AW novice company for this yard over 7f and opening mark looks fair as she steps up in trip.

Going Native13
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-1| J: L P Keniry| T: Olly Williams| OR:  64
16/1
Expensive yearling purchase who hasn't lived up to her price-tag so far, though she has placed in three successive fibresand handicaps this winter. Looks vulnerable to less exposed types on this faster surface.

Pastoral Dreams23
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-1| J: Tom Marquand| T: S Dow| OR:  64
16/1
Cheep yearling purchase who has shown flickers of promise in three maidens on the AW this winter, finishing a 5L third of nine behind Aquariam over 1m at Lingfield latest. May just lack the scope of some as he goes handicapping.

Hackbridge26

20/1
Cost just £2,500 and, though he hasn't been disgraced in three novice events on the AW this winter, he looks of limited ability. Others look more persuasive as makes a handicap debut.

Political Sloth13

Much more encouraging signs since sent handicapping, finishing second the last twice, albeit 7L behind Cherubic at Southwell last time. Much better off with that rival here but still has a fair bit to find.

Forecasts

Luna Eclipse (9/4), Paparazzi (9/4), Cherubic (11/4), Reverberation (6/1), Alifax (13/2), Pastoral Dreams (16/1), Going Native (16/1), Hackbridge (20/1), Political Slot (25/1), Lulu Star (33/1)

Verdict

Cherubic proved a revelation when dotting up at Southwell on her debut for David Evans recently but the combination of a 12lb rise, a quicker surface and an outside draw would appear to make her vulnerable. Irish raider Paparazzi has to be considered after an encouraging third-place effort from a poor draw at Lingfield recently but, with Andrew Balding's yard going so well, LUNA ECLIPSE may be able to exploit an opening mark of 69 having shaped as though this extra furlong would suit here last time.
  1. Luna Eclipse
  2. Paparazzi
  3. Cherubic
