Cost €55,000 as a yearling and, following a promising third over 7f at Newcastle on his debut, he scored authoritatively over that C&D next time. Step up to 1m should suit and may not beyond him to defy a penalty.

Acquired for 80,000 guineas last year and put debut experience to good use when making all in decent fashion over C&D in December. Still raced keen that day, so likely there is plenty of improvement in him Penalty may not stop him.

Unfancied and soundly beaten when pitched straight into a decent 1m Newbury novice event on soft ground in the autumn. Having cost 130,000 guineas, it's hard to believe there isn't more to come. Not dismissed.

By Mafki out of an unraced dam who was a half-sister to the 6f winner French Emperor. Pedigree doesn't jump off the page but yard going great guns ahead of his debut. Market should guide.

Bought for €22,000 as a yearling in 2016 and, though a half-brother to a few useful performers in France, he failed to shine when unfancied for his debut over 1m at Kempton last month. Best watched for now.

Changed hands for 37,000 guineas at two which represented a fall in price from his yearling fee. Yard not renowned for producing winning newcomers, though a market move would be interesting.

By Lonhro out of a dam who won over 1m at two. Yard going well ahead of his debut but the fact that he is apprentice-ridden for his debut tempers enthusiasm allied to a wide draw.

A €15,000 yearling and related to two minor winners. Unfancied for his debut over 7f at Kempton last month and, though beaten 10L in sixth, his performance from a poor draw wasn't devoid of promise. No surprise to see him run well.

Nothing special on paper and has ran accordingly in two maidens so far, firstly over 1m2f and most recently over 1m on the fibresand. Clearly not the yard's best hope today.

Champs Elysees filly out of a dam who won over 7f and was a half-sister to the 1m2f winner Rosa Grace. Possibly the most interesting of the newcomers on paper but stall 12 makes task difficult.
Lethal Force filly whose dam won on Fibresand. Refused to enter the stalls when unfancied for her intended debut over 7f here last month. Surely best watched despite the introduction of a hood.

Forecasts

Completion (8/11), De Medici (9/4), Mewtow (7/1), Zenith One (16/1), Gavi Di Gavi (28/1), Perfect Refuge (33/1), Acquirer (33/1), Guardiola (50/1), Bright Saffron (50/1), Frozen Bere (100/1), Noble Gesture (100/1), Snow Mobile (100/1)

Verdict

There was plenty to like about the way Completion and MEWTOW made winning debut's over 7f at Newcastle and this C&D respectively. It wouldn't appear beyond either of them to defy a penalty in this sort of grade but the latter won despite racing keenly first time out and may just have more improvement in him. Of the remainder it's hard to believe there isn't much more to come from the well-bred Acquirer after a disappointing debut on soft ground, whilst Zenith One caught the eye in defeat first time out and may offer some each-way value.
  1. Mewtow
  2. Completion
  3. Acquirer
