17-race losing run has seen his BHA mark fall 24lb, and with 7lb claimer on board here is arguably well handicapped. Hasn't looked the force of old though and hard to say how much ability he retains.
Finished third in all four maidens when with Ralph Beckett, but hit the target at the first time of asking for his new handler when scoring over C&D in amodest heat. This is tougher but appears in good heart.
Fair effort when runner-up in amateur event 15 days ago. Seems to be running into form and shouldn't be far away with stronger handling this time around. 0-11 though on A/W to date.
Placed in 9 of 12 starts on A/W , including three wins. Led 1f out before caught near finish at Kempton last time and is in decent form so expected to put up a spirited effort once again.
Scored nicely over C&D in December, ran well subsequently at Wolverhampton but disappointed her last time in amateurs event. Possibly needs professional handling and forgiven latest effort so cannot be ruled out in trappy affair.
Won on racecourse bow in October '15 but on a 20-race losing streak since then. Hold up performer who has been inconsistent of late, although there have been a few fair efforts. On balance. others are readily preferred.
Formerly with top German trainer Peter Schiergen. First start for new connections and went close here over 10f last month. Worth a try at this longer trip and market may well prove the best guide to his chances.
Forecasts
Barye (9/4), Native Fighter (7/2), Boychick (9/2), Bamako Du Chatelet (6/1), Fearsome (7/1), Ravenous (9/1), Top Beak (14/1)
If Luke Morris can hang on to BOYCHICK a little longer this time there is every chance the gelding can land the spoils after a couple of good recent efforts. Fearsome landed a C&D maiden recently and is going the right way but this is more of a challenge. Barye is thrown in old form but the jury is out on whether he still has it in him, while ex-German Native Fighter is the dark horse of the race, stepping up in trip and still unexposed in this country.
- Boychick
- Native Fighter
- Fearsome
