One of the few that have experienced this surface so far winning on her debut in a 7f maiden before finding a handicap over the same distance too competitive on her second start. Still in the early stages of her career she will find this more suitable as she steps up to a mile for the first time.

Gets his first experience of this surface (sire has a decent record here) but his first outing at Wolverhampton was uninspiring over a further trip than he faces today. Given his first run he still looks in need of experience and looks more the type for handicaps later on.

Tailed off in his sole bumper he didn't fare an awful lot better in his first start on the Flat at Wolverhampton (slowly away). This will be his first start on Fibresand but he looks to need to find a lot of improvement to take a hand here.

A break and a first experience of Fibresand appeared to bring about some improvement in her form as she scored in a C&D nursery in December. Not in the same form over the same C&D last time off an 11lb higher mark (not settle) and faces a tough task here.

Stepped up markedly from his debut when taking third over 1m2f at Lingfield albeit when well positioned in a slowly run race. Now gets to try Fibresand for the first time and given his sire (Poet's Voice) he should be at home here and could progress again despite the drop in trip.

Still looked green on his second start (slow into stride) when taking second over 7f here but showed progress from his debut. Flattered by his proximity to the winner but he has won again since here and the form has been further franked by the third; one to note now.

All three of his runs have come here and he's twice finished second over C&D essentially only losing out to an improver last time out after travelling well. He might not be improving at the rate of some of this field but should run another solid race on the Fibresand.

Has offered something to work on in both his starts so far which came on turf in the summer with 7f being the furthest he's tried. Now back from a long absence trying a new trip and surface for the first time but does look to have a chance if taking to the surface.

Price rose from a yearling to a two-year-old (€78,000) and he looks to have the type of pedigree that will allow him to act on this unique surface as he makes his debut. One to watch in the market in what doesn't look to be an overly strong event.

Forecasts

Dawn Dancer (9/4), Pacific Fleet (9/4), Silchester (4/1), Love Rat (13/2), Abraj Dubai (11/1), Couldn't Could She (25/1), Betjeman (28/1), Deolali (66/1), The Roof Hub (250/1)

Verdict

DAWN DANCER brings the best form into this race having split two subsequent winners here last time out over a furlong shorter. The extra distance shouldn’t be a problem and he’s expected to build on that run. Abraj Dubai is another with a good experience of this surface having won here on her debut before finding things too tough in a handicap next time out but back in novice company she may find things more suitable. Pacific Fleet now returns from a long break and tries the Fibresand for the first time and he might just need the run and experience. Love Rat is another who has a couple of C&D seconds to his name but he looks more a handicap type while the newcomer Silchester who should handle the surface is worth watching in the market.

  2. Abraj Dubai
  3. Silchester
