Ex-Irish maiden hurdler makes debut for new connections after absence of more than 300 days. Showed some signs of ability, but plenty of weight for first handicap start. Stable had very few runners of late.

Won three of last 10 starts including over fences at Ayr in heavy ground last month. Runs off same mark after disappointing on return visit there. Yard ticking over steadily but hard to know what mood he'll be in back over hurdles.

Rapid Fritzt6
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-8| J: Mr D Delahunt(7)| T: V Thompson| OR:  89
25/1
Ex-Irish gelding who remains a maiden after 22 career starts. Very hit and miss in six outings since joining current yard and hard to be confident he'll play a major role.

Age: 6|  Weight: 11-3| J: Ross Turner(7)| T: A Crook| OR:  84
10/1
10-race maiden fitted with first-time cheekpieces here and has been given a chance by the handicapper after some generally lack lustre performances this term. Probably didn't stay over 19f last time, but needs to get his act together soon.

Not beaten far in Wetherby handicap hurdle on penultimnate start and appeared not to handle heavy ground latest. Chance on Wetherby run and one of the more likely sorts on balance.

On a 20-race losing streak that has seen his mark fall by 34lb overall. Best at this trip and well weighted on pick of old form, but still not certain to produce the goods.

Age: 13|  Weight: 10-2| J: Alex Chadwick(7)| T: V Thompson| OR:  69
150/1
Six-time Flat winner but has failed to make the frame in all 13 outings to date over timber. Missed 42 months before returning at Catterick in January and ran poorly there and subsequently at Sedgefield. Looks up against it.

Forecasts

Bulls Head (2/1), Sky Full Of Stars (5/2), Notebook (7/2), Cadore (9/2), Jacarno (10/1), Rapid Fritz (25/1), Atlas Peak (150/1)

Verdict

NOTEBOOK is a tentative chocie in a race of generally disappointing horses. He went close at Wetherby last month and a repeat of that effort might well be good enough here. Main danger could be Sky Full of Stars who knows how to win and any rain will help his cause. Any money for handicap debutant Bulls Head would be interesting as he returns from a long absence and makes his first start for new connections. The rest need quite a leap of faith.
