Hardly needed to be at his best to win over 5f at Catterick last August but wasn't seen after that until reappearing recently at Wolverhampton in a minor event. Now makes his Fibresand debut giving weight away to the entire field but leading chance if he takes to the surface.
Started out at a very lowly level with his first run coming in a 6f seller here. Failed to make any real impression (slow away) and would need to improve a great deal to take a hand.
Has had four of his five career runs here but it's hard to say any of those outing really inspired although he was given a tough task last time out taking in his elders in a handicap. Was ridden too aggressively in any case and now finds himself back against his own age group and out of handicaps.
One of two runners in this from the yard and the only debutante in the field. Half-brother to a winner at up 7f in Body Power it will be interesting to see how he handles this surface.
Cost £24,000 as a juvenile and is a sister to several winners but only ran to a poor level on her debut at Wolverhampton over 6f. Should come on for that run as she tries Fibresand for the first time with sire having a relatively modest record on the surface.
Has shown little in her two starts here for this yard trying handicap company off a lowly mark last time. More needed back in novice stakes and would be a surprise winner here.
Forecasts
Cool Spirit (4/9), Samovar (3/1), Shortbackandsides (12/1), Daze Out (16/1), Elegant Joan (66/1), Mr Wing (100/1)
Not a great deal of strength in depth here and although COOL SPIRIT makes his Fibresand debut his form is well ahead of his rivals here and he should be able to pick up the winning thread again. The others don’t have a great deal to recommend then on what they have shown so far although Samovar didn’t run badly in a handicap last time and may have a future in low-grade company while Daze Out can be expected to improve on what she showed on her debut.
- Cool Spirit
- Samovar
- Daze Out
