Takes a drop in grade here (was a winner last time he raced in it) after just getting touched off over Wolverhampton's extended mile last time. Drop back in trip not an issue, is 1-1 at the track and looks to hold a major chance.
One win from two starts here, that coming at the beginning of last month when getting home by the minimum margin. Still in form based on latest effort at Kempton but this handicap mark leaves little room for error.
Made the most of a drop in grade to score over C&D last time out and that win will have boosted his confidence, but raised in grade today and up 4lb, both of which make life harder. Can't be discounted though, and looks booked for places at worst.
Slightly frustrating sort that maybe should have won a couple more than he has, but capable when things go his way and will have benefitted from his recent outing after a break. track and trip fine, and chance if it all drops right late on.
Has been in good form at Lingfield over the winter and did get his head in front over this trip there in December. Up in grade here, however, and efforts in it have been less convincing. Others preferred.
In good form around this time last year, and was on the verge of rattling off three quick wins. Has paid the price with his handicap mark since, but not beaten far at Southwell latest and may be on the way back. Not out of it.
Forecasts
Poet's Society (11/4), Call Out Loud (3/1), Espresso Freddo (10/3), The Commendatore (5/1), Varsovian (5/1), Treaty Of Rome (16/1)
A few of these like to press on, and a solidly-run race can be expected. POETS SOCEITY won;t mind that at all, as he gets a bit further, and this drop in grade can see him back on the scoresheet. Espresso Freddo is back in form and can give him most to think about. Treaty Of Rome could be best of the rest.
