First run on any AW surface coming back off a break having not won since May 2016 but that was in his last run in a handicap off this same mark (105). Without any headgear at all this time and is a very quick but might just need this having been a beaten favourite on his last start.
Looks a really progressive AW sprinter having won three of his last four races at Chelmsford with the last win coming off a mark of 98. Now raised a further 4lb having never run here before but should be suited by a strongly run race and remains of interest.
Looked smart as a sprinter in 2016 winning over 6f at Ascot off a mark of 101 and has also won on the AW over the same trip. Not in anything like the same form last year and back from a break here; form figures over C&D read 6304 and others make more appeal.
Has been a more than useful handicapper in the past and his last win came in a Goodwood handicap off an 8lb higher mark over 7f. Looks on the downgrade now having left Roger Varian for his current yard and showed very little last time out at Newcastle.
Showed some good form last year recording four wins (three on the AW; one over C&D) and looks to be working his way back to form having been given a break. This will be his third run back from that break (did too much too soon last time) and looks well handicapped here.
Hasn't won since taking a C&D handicap early last year but has a good C&D record (21223) and his last two runs have seen him back to his best. Confirmed the promise of his previous run last time out only going down narrowly off this mark and looks sure to go well off a likely strong pace.
Twice a winner on the AW last year at a lower level he showed he was going the right way when winning at Chelmsford off a mark of 85 in December (travelled well and showed good speed). Not disgraced last time when starting favourite but will find this a tougher ask.
Weighted 11lb lower than at the start of last year and down in grade she justified good market support in grand style over C&D last time. The 4lb rise in the weights has forced her up in grade now although she still looks well treated on her three-year-old form.
Showed that she was performing as well as ever when landing a 6f 0-85 handicap at Kempton last time out having shaped well on a couple of runs before that over today's C&D. A 4lb rise takes her into a higher grade now and she will have to show that she can progress again.
Forecasts
Udontdodou (5/2), Kachy (3/1), Human Nature (4/1), Kasbah (7/1), Shamsaya (8/1), Show Stealer (8/1), Magnus Maximus (16/1), Zac Brown (25/1), Certificate (66/1)
A very competitive handicap which should be run at a good pace and luck in running may play a part here. Udontdodou has been in good form at Chelmsford of late but has to show that he can perform around this different off a career high mark. Zac Brown looks very well handicapped on his old form and has been steadily working his way back to his best and he’s given a leading chance here. KASBAH won this race last year and his form over C&D entitles him to go close again this time out especially off the likely strong pace. Both Show Stealer and Shamsaya have to show that they can cope with this higher grade but are dangerous if they can and both deserve to take their chance in a race such as this.
- Kasbah
- Zac Brown
- Udontdodou
