Being brought along with patience and that paid dividends with easy Ffos Las maiden hurdle win (2m4f, heavy) last time. Runner-up has since gone close again, so solid look to form and should go well under his penalty.
Won a heavy ground Hexham novices' contest in September by 9L for Jedd O'Keeffe and joined this yard before latest start, when 1½L runner-up at Newcastle over a similar trip to this. Stable in good form and he should again be thereabouts.

Showed ability in a Hexham bumper (heavy) on debut in 2015, but off the track since being well beaten two years ago. On pedigree, this step up in trip looks positive and market check suggested to gauge confidence on hurdles debut after long absence.
Was a debut maiden open Irish point-to-point winner in 2015 and hinted at ability on novices' hurdles debut when making frame at Kelso last season. Disappointed both runs since, including over fences last time and looks more of a handicap prospect.
Built on a reasonable Carlisle debut effort when 17L fourth at Bangor (2m3½f, soft) last time. Shaping as though he will need even further, but if he can show a bit more improvement at this trip you couldn't rule him out of the frame today.

Has improved with each run, despite frustratingly being placed on four successive occasions. Finished lame here at Christmas meeting (2m, soft) when 11L second, doing best work late, so step up trip positive and he looks short-list material.

Former point-to-point winner (sixth attempt) and has hinted at ability in a couple of similar races to this at Bangor and Doncaster. Step up in trip looks positive, but he should receive a handicap mark after this and will be more interesting then.

Dead-heated for an Irish point-to-point win (good) in 2016 and conditions similar when he dotted up in a Chepstow bumper in April. Pedigree suggests that he will handle heavy ground and trip also fine, so he is a very interesting newcomer.

Improved on her debut run when returning to Catterick (2m3½f, soft) on New Year's Day, though still beaten 25L. Will need a lot more improvement to trouble the principals today and will be more attractive when she has a handicap mark.

Forecasts

Truckers Lodge (15/8), Noble Robin (5/2), Silva Eclipse (7/2), Quest For Life (9/2), Leskinfere (20/1), Toosey (50/1), Calypso Storm (66/1), Chocolat Noir (100/1), Lansdowne Road (250/1)

Verdict

An interesting curtain-raiser and with easy Ffos Las winner Noble Robin and Hexham scorer Silva Eclipse both penalised and potentially vulnerable in testing ground, it could be worth chancing hurdling debutante TRUCKERS LODGE. The Tom George string remains in good form and this six-year-old won well in a Chepstow bumper on good ground. An extra half mile should be ideal for now, while both sire and dam won on very testing ground, so he is likely to be able to handle it. Quest For Life looks a danger now stepped up in trip after doing some good work at the business end when runner-up here last time.
  1. Truckers Lodge
  2. Quest For Life
  3. Noble Robin
