Now makes his Fibresand/handicap debut having been disappointing last time out on the Tapeta at Newcastle over a mile. Sire has a relatively modest strike-rate on this surface and the mark looks high enough.
Winner of a Leicester seller over 7f in September she ran well back in handicaps last time out at Lingfield over that same trip off this mark. Her consistency is hard to knock (been kept very busy) and she now runs on this surface for the first time; sire has a 12% strike-rate here.
Showed improved form on this surface last time out having run here once before (finished 4th) to take the runner-up slot. Still to win a race and now runs off his highest mark but a repeat of his last run will see him go close; up with a strong pace for much of the way and slightly better off with winner (Mr Carbonator).
Winner here last time out (touched off Medici Oro) and looked to show more improvement despite having had plenty of racing this year. The switch to this surface may have helped though and he was kept out of the heat of the battle although did encounter some trouble in-running; respected again.
Cheekpieces are now tried alongside the hood that she wore last time out on her Fibresand debut over 7f in a novice event. Probably needed the outing and can be expected to do better in handicaps; yard are a little quiet at the moment though.
Both outings here so far have been poor and promised very little and he was outpaced over 6f last time out. Now steps up to a mile with just blinkers on but has only one standout piece of form to his name and others are preferred.
Tried over further and in first-time eyeshields last time out (left off here) as she makes her Fibresand debut back 2f in trip. Hardly the most consistent so far but drops to her lowest mark here; sire has a poor record here so far so not one of the leading players.
Her handicap/Fibresand debut was a respectable one but that came over 2f shorter and she failed to follow that up last time out over the same C&D. Helped force the pace there and dropped away quickly and more needed to take a hand here.
Stepped up in trip for her Fibresand debut over this distance she failed to show much with looking unsuited to this surface. Given another chance here but on the basis of the last run would be one of the lesser lights in this.
Yet to win a race and her form overall is modest although she has managed to make the frame in her last five handicaps. As a consequence the handicapper has kept edging his mark upwards; surface is an unknown but could get involved if he takes to it.
One of three from this stable in this and the cheekpieces go on for the first time having had a couple runs here before but shown very little. Dropped 3lb for her last effort but the stable are rather quiet at the moment and others appeal more.
Ran a rather strange race here last time (third to Mr Carbonator & Medici Oro) after never looking to be going early on (wore first-time visor) but did gradually find for pressure. In the end her finishing effort flattened out and it may well be that 7f will suit her better than this mile.
Forecasts
Mr Carbonator (9/4), Medici Oro (7/2), Progressive Jazz (7/1), Blue Havana (7/1), Felisa (15/2), Couldn't Could She (12/1), Raven's Raft (20/1), Sunhill Lad (25/1), Jaffar (33/1), Optimickstickhill (40/1), Thundercloud (40/1), Salire (80/1)
The 1-2-3 from a C&D nursery all take each other on again here none of them having run since with the third Blue Havana now being better off at the weights although she may be better over shorter and it took her a while to get going here last time. Medici Oro could have his run here last time out marked up a little as he was in the thick of a strong pace for much of the way but his conqueror that day MR CARBONATOR could maintain that form and strike again. Progressive Jazz would be of interest if he takes to this surface as could the consistent Felisa both are though Fibresand virgins and that always is something to note.
- Mr Carbonator
- Medici Oro
- Progressive Jazz
