Ex-Godolphin who won a 0-100 handicap on his first start for this yard on turf at Thirsk off a mark of 95 over 5f (soft). Never really built on that and failed (unsurprisingly) to stay a mile last time although he travelled well; now makes Fibresand debut in a lower grade.

Has taken well to AW surfaces and won her third at Newcastle a couple of starts ago (previously successful at Dundalk). Shaped well after her most recent win in two starts and now switches to Fibresand for the first time and has a chance if she takes to the surface.

Has a superb record around here which reads 11221110 but does have his quirks also and he was well beaten in this grade last time out finishing out of the first two for the first time. Again looked a hard ride and it may well be that the handicapper know has a hold of him.

Another one with an outstanding course record (7/18) and 2/8 over C&D and his last run here once again suggested that he's very much on the way back (better than bare result). Ridden too aggressively and now back below his last winning mark; very much one to be interested in.

Useful sprint handicapper who has shown winning form on the AW but didn't look to take to the Fibresand (might have needed the run) on his penultimate start. Finished well held on Tapeta over 6f last time; becoming very well handicapped but the surface is a question mark.

His style of racing looks well suited to the AW as shown when winning his last two on Tapeta at Newcastle making all both times and responding well to pressure. Up a further 6lb now and returned to Fibresand (finished 4th here on his only try); still nicely handicapped.

Needs no introduction around here having won seven times on this surface (5/19 over C&D) but is rather hard to predict (can be slow away). Ran poorly without his usual headgear last time over 6f here and now tried in a visor again.

Forecasts

Casterbridge (11/4), Razin' Hell (7/2), Kickboxer (9/2), Piazon (6/1), Crosse Fire (13/2), Tilly Trotter (7/1), Penny Dreadful (10/1), Bosham (25/1)

Verdict

A decent sprint handicap which contains a few that have shown excellent form on this surface and one of those would be RAZIN’ HELL who went off too quickly here over 6f last time and is starting to look as though he is off a handy mark now. Casterbridge has taken really well to the Tapeta but he showed up well on his only run here on his AW debut and he still looks capable off this mark after winning his last two. The handicapper may now have a hold of the one of the other course specialists in Piazon while it will be interesting to see how Tilly Trotter and Kickboxer go on their first runs on Fibresand; both have sires who have progeny that have performed with credit here.
  1. Razin' Hell
  2. Casterbridge
  3. Tilly Trotter
