Both his starts in Irish point-to-points were below-par but he improved on his Rules debut having joined a good yard to land a Bangor maiden hurdle. Looked as though he had more to offer there although he is saddled with a penalty here.
Had shown some useful form in bumpers and finally got his act together to land a novice hurdle at Huntingdon last time out. This will prove tougher though under a penalty although it was noticeable that he found more in a finish last time than previously.
Now goes hurdling for the first time after showing some useful form in bumpers although he did disappoint last time at Cheltenham. Stable going well at the moment and no surprise to see him step forward here.

Didn't really impress in bumpers when he was with Kim Bailey (finished well held) and was sold out of that yard for £8,000. Offered very little on his stable/hurdles debut at Exeter (pulled-up) and more needed.

Placed in two bumpers last winter both times on testing ground and although he shaped well on his return and hurdles debut the run looked to be needed. That run proved he had ability and he's one to watch in the market here.

Irish point-to-point winner on his debut and showed useful form when fancied on his bumper winning at Warwick. Has so far failed to impress over hurdles and only beat one home last time out at Ascot; more needed here.

Caused a surprise on his debut at Carlisle when winning a bumper (yard don't have many first time bumper winners) but his hurdles debut was disappointing. A mistake at the first didn't help but he may be a more long-term project over hurdles.

Successful in his sole outing in point-to-points he shaped encouragingly on his debut under Rules. Proved no match for the dominant winner but looked the type to improve and this longer trip here will suit also; much respected from a good yard.

Bumper winner and quite an impressive one at that when winning at Stratford on his debut when unfancied in the market. Has now shaped well twice over hurdles despite not settling that well but finished with running left last time and an interesting player here.

A winner in the point-to-point sphere he wasn't a cheap buy at all for one in this yard and he showed plenty of promise on his hurdling debut despite starting 25/1. Given a considerate introduction and should build on that initial outing.

His debut in the point-to-point field saw him a winner and although he was fancied on his Rules debut in a Chepstow maiden hurdle he did show some ability. The type to build on that run and do better further down the line.

Ran a fair race on his only start so far a summer bumper at Worcester going from the front and showing a good attitude to boot. Makes his hurdles debut here and based on that run he should be able to make an impression in this.

Looked fairly limited in her bumpers when with Brian Barr and did little better on her hurdles/stable debut at Doncaster recently. Would need to step forward a substantial amount to take a hand here.

Forecasts

Gunfleet (11/4), Silver Kayf (4/1), Ballygomartin (9/2), First Assignment (6/1), Shannon Bridge (7/1), The Groovy Hoovy (10/1), Born For War (14/1), Clondaw Cracker (16/1), Over Stated (20/1), Court Affairs (33/1), Pontresina (33/1), Beyond Supremacy (66/1), Shiroccodee (100/1)

Verdict

There are quite a few in this who can be expected to step forward on what they have done so far and one of those would be FIRST ASSIGNMENT who shaped with plenty of encouragement last time out and should build on that run. Gunfleet is another similar runner and he was better than the bare result last time. The Groovy Hoovy has also shaped well so far and he along with Ballygomartin and Over Stated are another trio to keep an eye on. Both Shannon Bridge and Silver Kayf have already proved themselves capable of winning such an event but they may find it tough to follow up under a penalty against a field that has some obvious promise amongst those getting weight.
  1. First Assignment
  2. Gunfleet
  3. The Groovy Hoovy
