Yard have been doing well with their chasers of late and this one finally got off the mark over a slightly shorter trip here last time. Up 4lb for that effort he's not that exposed and there may be a little more to come in this grade.

New trainer has made an impression already and this one makes his first start for the yard with the tongue tie going on straight away. Not yet won over fences under Rules but has shown enough in point-to-points to think that he is capable enough off this mark.

A rather in-and-out performer but has win two of his last five starts with his initial chasing win coming on his second start off a 9lb lower mark (enjoyed this sort of trip). Failed to back that run up last time out (pulled-up) and the tongue-tie now goes on for the first time.

Had won his two previous races over fences prior to a long absence but shaped well on his return over 2m4f here last time. Still lightly raced for his age and looked to retain his ability he should prove sharper for that run and makes some appeal here; wears cheekpieces for first time.

Goosen Maverick25
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-0| J: T J O'Brien| T: J G Cann| OR:  86
4/1
Had looked a rather moody and awkward sort prior to his win at Warwick last time and now finds himself attempting to repeat that success off a 10lb higher mark. That success came in a weak race and he doesn't look an ideal candidate to follow-up off this new mark.

Age: 10|  Weight: 10-12| J: Benjamin Poste| T: J R Cornwall| OR:  84

Usually seen to better effect around Huntingdon especially when allowed to go from the front but hasn't really looked in any sort of form of late. Ran poorly over shorter here last time and remains above his last winning mark.

Jump And Jumpt17
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-5| J: Brendan Powell| T: J Farrelly| OR:  77
12/1
Still only showed relatively poor form when third at Taunton last time out but it was a step in the right direction and she has dropped a long way in the weights now. Placed off higher marks in the past and comes from a shrewd yard so well worth a glance in the betting.

Age: 8|  Weight: 10-4| J: Max Kendrick(7)| T: B I Case| OR:  76
10/1
Had won a couple of point-to-points in a break away from running under Rules and has run a little better over fences since returning. Has to prove he can build on his last run and not one to totally rely on but this is only low-grade stuff.

Albatros De Guyep,t17
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-0| J: P J Brennan| T: Miss A M Newton-Smith| OR:  69

Continues his slide down the weights but really isn't showing anything at all at the moment that would make you interested in supporting him. Finished last at Towcester on his most recent outing beaten well over 45L.

French Seventyfivep12
Age: 10|  Weight: 10-0| J: J E Moore| T: G Boanas| OR:  68| C
12/1
Occasionally flatters and runs a decent race and did so last time out when finishing third here over 3m but still looked a hard ride (ran in snatches). Out of the handicap here and way below his last wining mark but not one to rely on.

Dougalstarp731
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-0| J: David Noonan| T: J Candlish| OR:  64
14/1
Poor maiden chaser who hasn't really shown anything of worth lately losing his place easily and quickly last time out and pulled-up. Out of the handicap here from a yard that are rather quiet at the moment and others much preferred.

Forecasts

Goosen Maverick (4/1), Corner Creek (9/2), Redmond (5/1), Global Domination (6/1), Silent Man (7/1), Mazurati (10/1), French Seventyfive (12/1), Jump And Jump (12/1), Dougalstar (14/1), Albatros De Guye (16/1), The Jugopolist (25/1)

Verdict

Not many that you would see improving here and it may well be the case that CORNER CRREEK is good enough to repeat his win here last time off a 4lb higher mark. Goosen Maverick is saddled with a 10lb hike in the weights for his win last time out and that could well anchor him with Global Domination of interest if he can reproduce his last run although this will be his second run after a long break. Silent Man and Redmond can both be given chances on some of their form but it may pay to watch the pair of Jump And Jump and French Seventyfive in the market. The former comes from a yard who are pretty shrewd and she’s off a tempting mark now while the booking of Johnny Burke catches the eye for the latter; he’s usually amateur ridden.
  1. Corner Creek
  2. Global Domination
  3. Jump And Jump
