Just the one win over hurdles, over 2m3½f at Lingfield. Made favourite for chase debut at same venue last month but pulled up a long way out. Champion jockey remains onboard and huge step up in trip today so better expected.

31L third in the third of four hurdle starts the best he managed but pulled up on final start back in April. Looks a tall order on chase debut off this weight.

Gained first career win last time out at Warwick in a 3m1½f handicap chase. 10lb higher but looking like he has found his niche now in staying chases so a bold bid expected once more.

Yet to win a race but ran some decent races last term over hurdles with a close second at Leicester over 2m4½f the best of them. Unconvincing when tried beyond 3m so this trip is the doubt. New trainer to start this campaign.

Limited form in Ireland over hurdles and pulled up first two starts over timber for this yard. Distant ninth on chase debut latest and hard to fancy from out of the handicap.

6lb out of the handicap here and a maiden of 22 starts in all. Seems to stay 3m so this longer trip should be fine and he actually has some decent form in lowly races over fences so won't be disgraced.

Forecasts

Goosen Maverick (8/11), Staunton (4/1), Greyed A (5/1), Colmers Hill (8/1), Bobonyx (25/1), Goodnightirene (25/1)

Verdict

GOOSEN MAVERICK has looked like the further he goes, the better he is over fences and a step up to a similar trip last time saw him gain his first win. He should take all of the beating here as he bids for a quick double. Improvement is likely from Greyed A especially with the champion jockey aboard and this longer trip could see him in a different light so he is feared most. Staunton is still a little doubtful stamina wise but this isn't likely to be run at a strong pace so she may last home and could go close if doing so.
  1. Goosen Maverick
  2. Greyed A
  3. Staunton
