No win since November 2015 when 24lb higher in the weights, but has been running fairly well in defeat recently and not out of the question that he could return to winning ways here.

10 time winner on the AW, but most of those have come over shorter and his recent form has left plenty to be desired (has finished last in his last five races); revival needed now.

Has run well on her last two starts and remains on the same mark here. Only win to date came in a 7f Lingfield maiden (AW), but has looked better over similar trips to this recently, or even slightly further.

Lightly-raced gelding who ran promisingly on handicap debut at Haydock last time out. Should be able to transfer that potential now switching back to the AW and holds leading claims.

Dundalk maiden winner back in January since but switched trainers soon after and yet to put in a truly convincing performance for this trainer; others preferred.

Would be very well handicapped on the best of his form but is yet to really fire of this yard and all career wins have come over further than this. Others hold more convincing claims.

Yet to win for her current trainer, though had looked slightly better recently before unseating the rider last time out. Is 3lb lower in the weights now and holds minor place claims.

Two of his three wins have come around 1m on the AW, but last two efforts have not been encouraging and he needs to do better in order to figure here.

0/12 in his career so far but has gone close with some nice placed efforts including over this trip. Is drawn well and looks on an appealing handicap mark.

10/1
C&D winner who is higher in the weights than his two career successes to date, but has run a couple of nice races off similar marks recently, including at Yarmouth last time out.

Two time winner in the second half of this year so far, and though higher in the weights now he ran well enough at this course when third last time to suggest that another big effort could be on the cards.

Course specialist who has won here 12 times in his career, but only tame form since winning over C&D in February, and a return to that level of form needed now.

Far from disgraced on handicap debut at Kempton last time when finishing third. Dropped 1lb here and no surprise to see him thereabouts once again, especially as he is so lightly-raced compared to most of these.

Forecasts

Dellaguista (4/1), Mac O'Polo (9/2), Edge (6/1), Maraakib (6/1), Mio Ragazzo (6/1), King Oswald (10/1), Beatbybeatbybeat (10/1), Harry Beau (14/1), Makhfar (20/1), Udogo (20/1), Multitask (20/1), Idol Deputy (33/1), World Of Good (33/1)

Verdict

It was encouraging to see how well MAC O'POLO shaped on handicap debut at Haydock last time having run creditably in his three maidens. With further improvement looking likely and racing off the same mark here, Tom Dascombe's charge can record a first career victory here in a competitive enough event, where Edge should also be thereabouts following some very good efforts recently, including over C&D last time. Mio Ragazzo is another who ran well on handicap debut last time, and completes the tricast.
