Unimpressive since Nottingham win in June; this possibly his weakest assignment yet but a revival is still needed off top-weight and against some more in-form and progressive rivals.
Narrow C&D winner last time out who has gone up 3lb as a result. Won off this mark earlier in the year but perhaps vulnerable to a younger improving type here.
Has been running well at Newcastle recently, including a victory two starts ago; should be capable of going close off this mark with a top AW jockey taking the ride.
In fine form on the AW recently, having not been out of the first two in his last three starts, including twice here. Just 1lb higher than when a close second at Lingfield latest (albeit at a short price), and holds strong claims.
Not the worst form on the AW, including a C&D victory earlier in the year, but that formed the middle leg of a hat-trick and the handicapper is probably in charge now.
No win since June 2016, when competing at a much higher level than this, but hasn't been beaten far in any of his most recent starts and no surprise to see him go fairly close again.
Maiden who has finished as runner-up in AW races in half of his eight starts. Second only to a wide-margin winner at Lingfield last time and surely his turn will come soon in a race of this nature.
C&D winner last time out who has gone up 5lb as a result. Probably wouldn't have won that race with the extra weight but still has the potential to improve further, though this does look slightly tougher.
Not beaten far on his hat-trick attempt over C&D last time out and goes off the same mark here. Needs to reverse form with Rapid Ranger from that race, however.
0-6 on the AW and yet to place for this trainer in five starts so far; others hold far more convincing claims despite his steady slide down the handicap.
Up 5lb for winning over C&D last time out. 3-5 record here overall but won't find it easy from the outside draw in a tougher race than his last outing.
Yet to show much for this yard and has never really been a factor in her last three races, all of which have come here. Difficult to build a case for.
Only win in 38 races came over C&D, but that was in 2015 and she finished as her odds suggested when 250/1 for a claimer here after a break of over a year last time out.
Forecasts
Blazed (7/2), Major Crispies (6/1), Duke Cosimo (13/2), Rapid Ranger (8/1), Trotter (8/1), Awesome Allan (8/1), Invincible Ridge (8/1), Deeds Not Words (8/1), A Sure Welcome (12/1), Bondi Beach Boy (16/1), Zapper Cass (20/1), Mysterious Glance (33/1), Seraphima (100/1)
It's difficult to ignore the claims of Blazed, who has been in fantastic form on the AW recently with form figures of 212 in his last three races, and should be capable of getting involved off his current mark, but preference is for TROTTER. He may be a maiden for the time being, but exactly half of his eight races have seen him finish second in AW events, and having run very well the last twice (including when second only to a short-priced favourite at Lingfield last time), he is taken to get off the mark at the ninth time of asking. C&D winner Rapid Ranger would need a career best to win this but has the potential to hit the frame.
- Trotter
- Blazed
- Rapid Ranger
