Blinkers are applied for the first time on just his second attempt in a handicap, and for his AW debut. Seemingly not progressing as perhaps anticipated, but his trainer has a strong record at this track, so not one to dismiss lightly.
180,000 gns yearling who has left Adrian Keatley since his last start at Dundalk in early October (1m). Half-brother to 1m AW scorer Illaunmore, so in theory this test should suit. Interesting to see how he fares on stable/handicap debut.
Unbeaten in two starts in nurseries on Polytrack (7f and 1m), but not able to translate that improvement back to turf at York latest. Races prominently, so likely to be attacked from all sides late in the contest.
Posted a pleasing effort over C&D on debut when beaten 1½L by Tansheet, but for one reason or another hasn't built upon that promise. Switched to a nursery now, so potentially a fair opportunity to get back on track.
A steadily improving mare who hit the frame on her nursery debut at Lingfield last month (7f), when beaten just over 1L by Insurgence. Up 3lb, and an extra furlong in trip, which should suit on pedigree.
Beaten 2L by Chrisellaine over 7f on her last visit to Gosforth Park, and has ran to a similar level since at Kempton (1m). Half-sister to 1m2f-1m6f winner Calvinisit, so no concerns about this stiff mile on handicap debut.
Yet to tackle this trip, but produced his best effort so far when beaten ¾L by shock winner Blue Harmony over 7f here just under a month ago. Handicap debut.
Runner up over 7f at Brighton on her penultimate start, but she's had plenty of chances to break her duck. Tongue tie applied on stable debut (previously with Jamie Osborne).
Canford Cliffs filly who emerged with credit out of a couple of 7f novice events at this track last month. Steps up in trip on her handicap debut after finishing 1½L second to Great Shot Sam latest.
55,000 gns yearling who was knocked down for 7,200 gns after winning a 1m Lingfield seller for Richard Hannon last month (beat new stablemate Mr Large by a neck). Previous start in a nursery came over just 6f.
Beaten ¾L by Archie Perkins over C&D in September, but he is becoming increasingly difficult to place, remaining winless with a rising mark. Blinkers are added as he seeks to make it tenth time lucky.
60,000 gns yearling who doesn't appear to be progressing. Finished down the field at Newmarket (1m1f) in late October, and has dropped 2lb in the handicap since. Others look far stronger.
Hasn't managed to beat all that many home in three starts, and finished last of six to Trevithick over C&D in mid November. Hard to imagine he'll make the frame on handicap debut.
£20,000 yearling who has appeared very light on ability on the racetrack. Yet to race beyond 6f, or beat many rivals home in three previous starts. Couldn't be considered on nursery debut and on his first attempt over 1m.
Forecasts
Papa Stour (11/4), Bold Reason (4/1), Far Dawn (8/1), Grace's Secret (8/1), Carp Kid (9/1), Sioux Frontier (10/1), Bajan Gold (12/1), Sunbreak (14/1), Sharp Reminder (16/1), Photonics (20/1), Ideal Candy (40/1), Jo's Girl (40/1), Wynfaul The Wizard (100/1), Squirrelheed (100/1)
A reasonably competitive nursery which should yield a few future winners. Carp Kid looks a fair acquisition for Jamie Osborne longer term, but this looks a shade competitive tonight, whilst similar comments apply to Ideal Candy, who should be winning races at this track over the winter. Photonics would have strong claims if able to reproduce his debut effort over C&D now switched to a nursery, whilst blinkers could suit Bold Reason. Papa Stour has his first start for a new trainer as he seeks to prove his worth, whilst Sharp Reminder has scope to progress further over this trip on handicap debut. However, the rather speculative selection is GRACE'S SECRET. She looks to be slowly grasping the nettle and can benefit most for this step up in trip.
- Grace's Secret
- Photonics
- Sharp Reminder
