Bounced back to form in cheekpieces at Chelmsford in a race where Belgravian was favourite and had a difficult time. Needs to find more under a penalty, which puts her 3lb above her newly assessed mark, and sire's stock have a modest record here.
Looks another progressive type for this astute trainer who immediately earmarked this after Tuesday' success. Has had issues at the start more than once and they contributed to his recent downfall at Chelmsford.
Winner over 7f here in January on last run in this grade. That came off a 7lb lower mark but she has since gone down by a short-head over C&D off higher. Has solid each-way claims.
0-10 on AW surfaces but has made the frame on both previous starts here. Others appear better handicapped at present.
Winner here in May over 7f and best run since came last time when getting no luck in running. Also went well here in a maiden so has to go on all shortlists.
Went well on handicap debut in September but form has fallen away since. No signs of improvement here two weeks ago and cheekpieces are given a try.
Strapping individual who looks well ahead of the handicapper judged on his last two starts at Newcastle. Escapes a penalty for latest success and entered at the same venue on Thursday.
Yet to show any worthwhile form and makes Fibresand debut after four months on the sidelines. Hard to fancy.
Second start for a yard that have had plenty of success on this unique surface. Sire has a modest record here and new trip is tried after Tuesday's underwhelming effort.
Pedigree indicates this should be more his trip having been campaigned over further since going handicapping. This is a good race for the grade though and he would be of little interest unless coming in for hefty support.
Will be better for her return from a year off and visor now tried. Yet to make the frame and easy to look elsewhere.
Best run came when runner-up to Anna Medici in July and he is now 23lb better off with 1¼L to find. That rival has obviously improved since and would appear better suited to this trip than this 15-race maiden.
Very little worthwhile form posted so far and dramatic improvement required now blinkered. Not hard to overlook this time.
Forecasts
Breathoffreshair (11/4), Anna Medici (3/1), Belgravian (7/2), Topmeup (8/1), Mimic's Memory (10/1), Breaking Free (14/1), Seaview (16/1), Sir Harry Collins (20/1), Our Kim (20/1), True Colors (20/1), Red Douglas (33/1), Melcano (50/1), Tilly Devine (66/1)
Anna Medici and Belgravian are improving three-year-olds who will probably be strong in the market. The former is effectively 3lb "wrong" in the weights under her penalty and her sire's horses can find this surface hard to handle. Belgravian can cause problems for himself leaving the stalls. He managed to overcome a slow start in an amateur's race on Tuesday, but this looks a stronger race. Breathoffreshair is due to run at Newcastle on Wednesday evening. Victory there would incur a penalty for this and he seems ideally suited to Tapeta. Seaview has each-way claims on the evidence of two previous runs here, whilst MIMIC'S MEMORY is another who acts well here. She was a comfortable winner over 7f in May and has since proved effective at this trip. A summer break has seen her slow to return to form, but she looked unlucky not to finish closer last time and she offers a value alternative to the likely market leaders.
- Mimic's Memory
- Seaview
- Breathoffreshair
