Finished last of 12 to Villette on handicap debut at Leicester in mid October (1m2f good to soft), and is swiftly dispatched into a lesser grade. This shorter trip is probably more suitable, but remains a likely back number.
Beaten just a nose by The Eagle's Nest over 1m2f on his last visit to Gosforth Park, and a reproduction of that effort should see him competitive. Hasn't won for over two years, and tries 1m for the first time since April 2016.
Raced in similar races on her last three starts at Dundalk, but the 7f contest she won in late October was restricted to fillies, so probably took very little winning. Form over 1m previously, but this much stiffer mile will test her stamina.
A Kempton winner (1m) for Amanda Perrett in December 2016, he was gelded and didn't reappear until late September. Disappointing thereafter, he's moved on to another yard, for whom this is his second start.
A five time career winner on Polytrack (Lingfield, Kempton and Chelmsford), he's found it tough to get his head in front most latterly, albeit regularly placed, hence the drop in grade. Fine over this trip, but Tapeta somewhat of an unknown.
Has made the frame twice this month over an extended mile in Class 6 handicaps (Nottingham and Wolverhampton), but whilst certain to appreciate the drop in grade has work to do with some of these rivals based upon handicap ratings.
Becoming disappointing, and the blinkers appeared to have no impact at Kempton (1m) latest. Essentially better than these horses at his best, but all hopes are pinned on a return to Newcastle proving the answer - past course form figures read; 1,3.
Holds an obvious chance at these weights, and has plenty of Newcastle form in the book. However, the winless efforts are beginning to stack up, and she looks slightly risky over this much shorter trip. First time blinkers potentially a crucial aid.
Stablemate of Henpecked, but looks far less talented and remains a maiden after 16 attempts. Will be firmly living up to his name if belatedly electing to break his duck tonight.

Another very moderate contest in which a collection of mainly struggling rivals lock horns. Henpecked is the pick of the weights, but this trip is very much on the short side and the application of first time blinkers isn't enough to tempt for win purposes. Midnitemudcrabs has boxed around this level at Dundalk lately and should run her race, but with just the sneaking suspicion that she might not quite fully see out this stiffer test of stamina. Choral Clan is an unknown quantity on Tapeta, but his trainer Brendan Powell wouldn't be a Newcastle regular so he's worthy of note, but in the interests of a token bet, a few shekels can be thrown in the direction of MARAAKIB, who went mightily close to scoring on his last visit to Gosforth Park; admittedly over 1m2f.
