Unplaced in two bumpers earlier in the year his one run on the Flat so far resulted in a poor ninth in a Doncaster maiden. Back from a break here on Fibresand for the first time.

Green on debut in a Newbury bumper he now makes his debut on the Flat with the tongue-tie going on for the first time. Not exactly screaming to be backed with the sire only having a modest record on this surface.

Has now had 18 starts on the Flat and has yet to break his maiden although he was well backed to do so on his debut start here last time when finishing second. Ran with credit there but was only sticking on for pressure and another place may be the order of the day.
Two starts in maidens a few months apart have shown little and it would be a major surprise to see him take a hand here on his first run on Fibresand.

Bumper form looks fair (placed both times) and worth a try on the Flat in a weak event such as this. Stable have a good record here (especially with debutantes) and his sire has had a winner here giving hope he'll act on this surface.

Four starts in bumpers have shown only a little ability and she would need to take a major step forward to even land a place here based on those runs as she makes her Flat/Fibresand debut.

Just the one outing so far to his name and that resulted in a last of four at Pontefract in July over this trip. Headgear now goes on for the first time bit with the surface and unknown he's best watched for now.

Best effort so far has come over a mile so this extra 4f is a step into the unknown for this six-race maiden. Has looked as though she has needed both her starts for this yard in handicaps; will find this tougher but sire has an excellent strike-rate on Fibresand.

Has failed to win yet despite being favourite twice at short prices in September in maiden company. Possibly showed that form to be all wrong last time out when finishing 4th in a Listed Fillies' race at Lingfield over 1m5f; clear chance if reproducing that form on Fibresand debut.

Nine starts have yielded very little so far and her one try here resulted in a well held effort and can only be watched in this.

Forecasts

Gakku (4/6), Frown (3/1), Epitaph (9/2), Qasr (8/1), Chelsea Corsage (25/1), Summer Name (33/1), Deshan (33/1), Leodis (50/1), Seirios (66/1), Run For Eva (150/1), Zarkavon (200/1), My Distant Murphy (200/1)

Verdict

Not a huge amount of strength in depth and the likely favourite Gakku has thrown out some conflicting form in her career so far. If she repeats her Listed run last time she will win easily but the previous two short-priced defeats do cast a shadow on her overall profile. This will be her first time on the surface and although being by Pivotal (18% strike-rate on Fibresand) she’s hardly a rock solid proposition. FROWNhas a tremendous amount to find with the likely favourite on the formbook but she may well show some improvement on her second run and enjoy this stamina test. Epitaph and Qasr are a couple of others to note in this event which makes limited betting appeal.
