Still a maiden but has looked rather unlucky not to shed that tag on a few occasions now but often given plenty to do in his races (usually held-up well off pace). Cheekpieces now go on for the first time and on the back of a useful effort last time should go well here.
The sole C&D winner in the line-up but that happened a fair while ago when he was in better form that he is now. Back from a break now but his last two efforts have resulted in his being pulled-up and hardly looks a solid proposition here.
Like a few from this yard proved to be a far more backable proposition when switched to handicaps and landed a touch when winning on his debut over hurdles off a mark of 85. Failed to build over hurdles but ran well enough on chasing debut although hugely flattered by proximity to the winner.
Improved form since being sent over fences with a win on her last start over fences franked by the exploits of the second and third. Returns from a break now of an 8lb higher mark that will make life tougher here although she is still respected if ready to go.
Has readily built on the promise that she showed on her chasing debut winning her next two starts over fences and is 5lb higher here for her last win. Looks as though she can carry on improving and can't be ruled out of this on her hat-trick bid.
Not seen since winning back-to-back handicap chases with plenty of give in the ground over 3m here and over shorter at Fakenham. Presumably has been hard to train but if fir after the absence he could look well handicapped off a mark of 90.
Always appears to be seen at his best around Huntingdon where his last two wins have come. Still a temperamental sort though and hard to trust; comes here on the back of some poor runs and hard to recommend.
Forecasts
Pretty Reckless (11/4), Captain Mowbray (11/4), Global Domination (7/2), Chasma (6/1), Manwell (8/1), Mondo Cane (25/1), The Jugopolist (28/1)
A teasing opener to the card with Petty Reckless the obvious form choice looking to complete the hat-trick although she faces a few here that may well be capable of better. CAPTAIN MOWBRAY is often given a lot to do in his races but his smooth travelling style may well be suited by this track although it’s hoped that he doesn’t get too far back as he bids for his first chasing win. Chasma looks to be mildly progressive and better over fences and should be noted if strong in the market while a race-fit Global Domination would be of interest if he’s ready to go first time up having shown some good form at the end of 2015. Manwell needs to improve but this looks a more manageable task than last time.
- Captain Mowbray
- Pretty Reckless
- Chasma
