Appears to appreciate some cut in the ground. Best effort to date was when beaten just over 3L on heavy (1m) at Haydock on his second start. Initial mark looks stiff enough judged on that, but couldn't rule out improvement.
Improved with each of three novices'/maiden runs, the last of them on heavy (7f) at Salisbury. Was taken out on soft ground at Pontefract but if he takes his chance here then he could make further gains on his nursery debut and stepped up in trip.
Improved in his three novices' runs, his best effort being the last of them at Salisbury (1m, heavy), when beaten just ½L. Not far off that on his nursery intro at Newmarket (1m1f, good to firm) last time and not ruled out.
Took a few runs to come to hand but won at Leicester (7f, good to soft) on his nursery debut last time when getting up close home at 20-1. Carries a penalty for that here, so will need to take another step forward over this longer trip to defy that.
Best of his three novices' efforts was on debut (7f, good to firm) at Salisbury in July. Mark looks stiff enough for nursery debut but open to improvement over this longer trip and sire relished cut in the ground, so he is an interesting contender.
Would look very fairly treated here based on her Doncaster (7f, good to soft) run in July, but well beaten at Newmarket and Nottingham (nursery debut) since. May have been heavy ground last time, so with 2lb drop and soft today she could do better.
In the frame in five of her seven starts without winning any of them so far. Put up one of her better efforts when a ¾L third here (7f, good to soft) last time. Should get this extra furlong and from the same mark she has claims.
Has been comfortably or well beaten in all four starts in novices'/maiden company so far. Didn't appear to be well suited to a bit of cut in the ground at Newmarket two starts ago, so looks to have a bit to prove from this mark on nursery debut.
Already has a nursery win to her name from Chepstow (1m, soft) in September and after a blip at Redcar she went well to be beaten just 1L at Pontefract (1m, soft) last time. Up another 6lb for that, but should be competitive.
Gelded after his three novices' runs and came good last time on his handicap debut at Ayr (1m, soft), sticking on well to hold off a couple of challengers. Up 5lb for that, but potential for improvement and capable of going close again.
Three modest efforts so far over 5f-7f in novices' company, the latest being his turf debut (good to soft) over the minimum trip here. Pedigree suggests that step up in trip will suit, cheekpieces may help too and a market check looks prudent.
Forecasts
Regular Income (6/1), Marble Bar (6/1), Milan Reef (6/1), Blacklooks (6/1), Burn Some Dust (7/1), Kirbec (15/2), Dance Emperor (9/1), Sigrid Nansen (12/1), Odds On Oli (16/1), Creel (20/1), Gemologist (33/1)
It has to be a concern that Dance Emperor was taken out on soft ground last time, although he had acted on heavy previously. Otherwise, he looks a potential improver in this, while course winner Blacklooks is more exposed but still open to better now stepped up in trip. Gemologist would have a squeak if she can recapture earlier form, while Kirbec, Milan Reef and Burn Some Dust are others who catch the eye on paper. However, the suggestion is MARBLE BAR, who could make a fair bit of improvement for this step up in trip and whose sire loved to get his toe in.
- Marble Bar
- Kirbec
- Burn Some Dust
